Sooo When will

Activision merge all these dead era servers to one mega server for each time zone. Can open a forever TBC and Wrath mega server along with them. Still have less server and server maintenance than they do now. Better for bot fighting. If they actually care about the servers.
Then every Jan 3rd or so open a fresh of each and merge at the end of the year. To keep the fun going

Then Everyone’s a winner.

I am not sure. The general consensus is they might have wrath but as far as it can be said to be wrath we might have some ways. A tbc will def be fresh unless that is the destination for our sod characters, especially if they add tbc races.

People are saying cata might have to fail for their to be a wrath era and thats just it. It will take some time for cata to fail once people realize dragon soul and possible pandaland are incoming. Then again some idiots would probable think to ask for pandas as the solution and not wrath or tbc.

But we all know that cata can’t succeed if wrath is an option it is like communism.

server merging is a sign of the game dying.

not really :expressionless: it’s just a sign of there being too many servers
blizzard seems to have learned this lesson, what with HC and SoD being released with very few realms now.

Are there free transfers from the dead servers to the main clusters?

I would guess they made the clusters based on activity (who got clones initially) so the dead ones probably had very little demand at the start.

I kinda like the cluster system since I can have both horde and alliance toons with the same name (just diff server) and all my alliance toons have name-Bigglesworth, which is pretty awesome in itself.

Is BIS

Yes.

On a thread note:
I’d be okay with the servers getting “merged” but not with the server I post from this toon on being totally deleted.

Saying that, there are “dead” server clusters that do have a small community with guilds who raid even. I don’t think that those players would want to be forced onto Whitemane or Pagle. If they wanted to be there they would be. Free transfers are available. So these players have decided to stay where they are and if they enjoy the smaller community wanting to force a merge so that people can have a tbc or Wrath Era server is selfish.

I also don’t think these servers being there is related to tbc or Wrath Era servers existing. There is way more to that. I have personally supported these “other” Era servers existing many times in the past, without suggesting tearing down other servers.

If there are free transfers I don’t see the need for blizzard to do anything at this point. Players can self-select and there’s no need to punish the people that enjoy the smaller communities.

If the big clusters ever become overpopulated they have plenty of tools to load balance within servers themselves as well as adding layers to the cluster. So the current Era setup can probably scale 1000x before there are real issues.

Dear Blizzard please never merge the servers, thank you, Grobbulus server.

We are not dead, and actively reject the free transfers off the server. We even have folks paying to transfer to our “dead server” from the mega clusters.

That’s awesome really. From forums post all servers seems dead but few. With them announcing cata as classic with no wrath more will go back to classic era. If I end up staying and resub in Jan. I might check Grobbulus out. Classic Era is and always be a good game.

Humble yourself before your new over lorde Microsoft.

LoL

Activision - Microsoft. Still = … just want you’re money. you play what we want you to play and like it

I’m confused, I thought we were pretty much one cluster per server paradigm, are we not?

(ie, PvE, PvP, and RP-X)
