So… my client is currently installed a 20 gig update in the background, but there is no announcement of it or anything being launched today, which leads me and many other to believe its coming the 6th, and yet my WoW client is downloading a 20 gig patch so its ready to go on patch day…?
ssoo… maybe it IS the 29th (today technically) and they just haven’t said anything, or maybe its on an odd day this week instead of Tuesday, idk but i know a 20 gig patch aint for a server connection issue thats for sure. Anyone else get this update?

It’s normal for big patches to be downloaded in the background a week or two early with a small patch on patch day with all the last-minute updates.

I don’t think its normal for them to send out a patch like that a week ahead of time, a couple days maybe but, if they have to make any sudden changes or something that would result in another significant client update, idk i just find it interesting.
hasn’t the prepatch been preloadable for like 2 weeks now?

No patch this week, they are doing a realm connection from 8AM PST to 4PM PST, Blizzard would not put a pre- patch out unless all realms are able to play.
Not that I am aware…? its been on PTR for a few weeks, but i also havent been on bnet much aside from checking updates.
They’ve had patches on the downloader for like 3 weeks before
Oh i don’t disagree, I just think the timing is interesting. And it is blizzard, they do do crap like that sometimes lol, not very often but they have their moments.
I am pretty sure I had a background download some time ago, yeah.
I don’t remember exactly when I got that download, but it was definitely over a week ago at this point. They wouldn’t be rolling out a 20gig download the night before prepatch. They send it out ahead of time so that people can slowly download it in the background.
Well and again i also haven’t opened my client a lot recently so maybe i’m just late getting it.
I never got a 20GB background predownload.
And my internet isn’t great so I would know if it finished without me noticing because it would of taken hours and I never leave the Battlenet client open even with WoW running, I’ve always clicked “play” and closed it (and no, it’s not running in the system tray, I turned that “feature” off; I’m a strong believer in “X means bloody close”).
It was available for download 2 weeks ago, dont read anything into it. They do this literally all the time with new expansions.
People need to stop looking for hidden clues, it’s not some big secret Blizz is trying to sneak by everyone lol.
Yes it has been. Bur the pre-patch in NOT today.
Yeah, I just turn it off on the launcher when it makes me patch (so it doesn’t also do a humongous future thing.) That is the only time I run the launcher, when I have to patch. Then I just wait until the 20 gig patch day, since it downloads fast anyway.
