Can we expect anything remotely interesting or valuable on the way for Arcane aside from small +% passes that don’t address the absolutely abysmal state of Arcane as a spec?
All 3 mage specs received very generic “+/-%” changes.
Mage was the only class to receive changes to multiple specs that didn’t include specific spell changes for PvE. To me that implies that it’s likely that nobody has really looked at the details for any of the mage specs but are at least aware that they’re under/overperforming in certain categories.
The only thing we can really hope for right now is that we get a more dedicated look next month. I suspect that outside of new expansion updates, there probably isn’t a dedicated “my job is to work on this class” person on staff, but that the team rotates around on what they do and don’t work on. Given that mage received only generic updates I’d suspect it means we simply weren’t in the rotation for the past few weeks and hopefully it means that we’re either being looked at now or will be soon.
At the very least, the fact that we received any changes it all indicates to me that Blizzard knows something isn’t right. However, the last few times they’ve tried to fix things they’ve made it worse - so I’d much rather they take their time figuring it out.
The sad thing to me here is that they could just roll back their changes to TWW launch and do numbers tuning from there, but that isn’t going to happen. Apparently being “happy” with the current shredded state of Arcane is how it’s going from here.
Honestly, I don’t even think they’d need numbers tuning. It was a far better spec back then. I think more players would be happy even if it didn’t improve our overall damage.
Yeah… I remember playing it in Beta and being so happy that Arcane finally felt good to play.
Now we’re here.
