Son of the wolf interview (possible spoiler)

i would like to point out the devs answer to this last question, they say it is a possible future, key word possible. does that mean anduin no longer has guaranteed plot armor as that ending is only one possibility?

“Dranosh dying to Arthas was only a possible present!”

Attempting to backtrack on the blatant story issues presented by son of the wolf is probably a good call.

I still believe Anduin has complete plot armor, though.

This reads weird. What is the context and what does it mean?

it is him poking fun at blizzard, i dont think they say that, granted i only listened to the questions that caught my eye

That’s just Curse playing on the Son of the Wolf comic being merely a possible future, not the canon future I do believe.

Idk I always believed it was ever set in stone to begin with.

I meant Blizzard will use this logic to explain when they ret con stuff or when they change their mind or if stuff doesn’t compute.

“Anduin being alive in a comic you read - that is only a possible future!”

“Dranosh dying to Arthas in a cinematic right before your eyes was just a possible present! The real canon events are in Chronicles.”

I was basically making a joke. But as they say, if you have to explain a joke, it wasnt delivered right.

Well I mean the Mag’har intro quest and the Bronze Dragon Flight put a lot of future aspects of the lore in question.

God…if they (retcon?) say certain pieces of media are just a possible outcome then wtf is the point of showing us?

As a avid lore person I’m not really going to give a flying blight canister about possible what ifs until after the main story is done.

You look at what ifs to see what things could of been like.

heh, a friend of mine is a huge TES nerd, but as he relayed to me, the TES has an entire event that allows them to constantly retcon as needed called a “dragon break.” For instance, the entirety of the TES MMO is non-canon because it occurs in one of these dragon breaks.

Marketing and generating money.

One of the main reasons I disliked the Chronicle series.

thats what i have been thinking, if it is just a possible future and has no actual impact, then what was the point of showing it to us to begin with

Jeez I can’t help but feel things would be easier to just say this happened so and so before the other TES series.

Idk why but playing a game and putting work in only to find out your actions are non cannon kinda sucks, feel like there is more of a smile to be put on your face knowing you’re cannon and you helped solve a problem long ago before the current generation.

I used to be hyped for chronicles but the more I hear about it the more I’m slightly annoyed at the prospect of them retconing things or giving a cannon victory to one side instead of a neutral organization with the aid of heroes from both sides.

Honestly just sounds like a way for them to gauge the community on what they will or won’t throw major backlash against tbh at this point.

That’s the difference between a well thought out genre (TES) and a poorly thought out one (WoW). The former has a built in retcon mechanic. Then again TES lore gets really, trippy.

Or Battletechs method of saying all lore is canon, anything contradictory is Comstar/Successor state lies. Or Warhammer’s "everything is canon, ESPECIALLY the contradictory stuff.

I think more likely that TES and Warhammer have had many more revisions that necessitated their stances. Having followed Warhammer for as long as I have, it has ALWAYS been riddled with contradictions that make lore debates…frustrating. For TES, the dragonbreak concept was built to be their get out of jail freecard because they needed to square the circle with their massive lore build.

The reason it is so jarring for us in wow is because blizzard had done a relatively cleaner job at their narrative in comparison to other massive universe properties.
