It appears that if you have a character that has reached Renown 11 and unlocked Laden Somnuts, any other character that is not yet Renown 11 on your account will no longer see any somnuts (including small ones) on their minimap.

There is also a Laden Somnut at 65, 42 ish that is floating in the air and unable to be looted.
