Sometimes, they make the game TOO easy

That occurred to me today while I was questing in ZM. There was this quest, “Save the Vombata” where you had to run around patting cubs in a certain area. But then I get there and every cub is a dot on the map, and when you get close they sparkle. I don’t have to search, all I have to do is go from dot to dot, and voila, quest compelted.

I mean, I get it, its makework but really does it have to be so very little mindwork involved in the game?

And then you have ones that take forever to accomplish…

So, yes

Does everything have to be a decent amount of mindwork? Can’t there just be trivially simple insignificant quests?

Can’t you disable that dot from showing in your dropdown? If not I can make you an addon that removes it

You might be able to turn this off in your settings Esc->System->Graphics->Outline Mode

Seems to me there is way too much of that now. But hey, that might just be me. If you are happy with trivial, thats cool.

They’re not on my map, nor do they sparkle. :woman_shrugging:t4:

Also: I have to have Wowhead up at all times and the Handy Notes addon in order to figure out 90% of ZM stuff. This one being easy is a breath of fresh air.

There is plenty of crap I’ve dealt with in this game that has aggravated me to no end. I thank god every time I get a quest as trivial as that because I know that lurking around there corner there’s a quest that drags on forever around the horizon

I like trivial  Because in order to spawn

you have to find a

and do /chicken then it turns into the Enraged variant and you can battle it. The agitated variant doesn’t have a nameplate and doesn’t show up as a vignette (the star) on your minimap so what does that mean? It means you better make a /tar Agitated Poltrid macro and run around spamming that macro to target them. That’s trash design and I hate it so yeah, more trivial for me please

more will complain if it was hard. I think this is the first post of the year where someone says the game is too easy.

And then there was the treasure in the underground area this week, where I had to zoom in to be in first person mode just to find the hidden teleport pads and had no clue the fourth one was outside, so I had to finally use Wowhead after 20 minutes of searching.

Or the treasure that requires me to find a bunch of eggs to kick a chicken out of a nest.

Or the rare no one knows how to spawn, so they keep killing the little vespids before they can get 12 stacks of poison on me.

Or the extremely rare goop droprate where you traverse the world to get more stuff.

Or the one puzzle that I have to use an addon to solve, because half the time it makes no sense.

The list goes on.

Maybe do something more challenging like mythic raiding or Shoot for gladiator, if daily’s were hard nobody would do them.

That drives me nuts.

I realize a lot of casual players prefer hand-holdy, brain-dead content but the least Blizzard could do is make those markers optional for those of us who like to fully engage with the quest.

It’s optional for me. I have no dots on my map and no sparkles.

How did you get rid of them?

They started cropping up for me in Pandaria, continuing thru Draenor and Legion, and nothing I have done will remove them.

god. that was annoying. had to use wowhead too

Honestly, I’m not sure. I don’t know if it’s a standard option in Interface or if it’s an addon.

I have the glow around quest objects, but no sparkles. And I turned off quest objectives on my minimap.

Thanks anyways.

If I was logged in, I’d nose around to see if I could figure out why. But I’m sick on the couch. I’m sorry I was worthless. :slightly_frowning_face:

You are right everything should be very tedious and boring. Does everything you do in life require lots of mindwork?

You can disable sparkles in your System Settings

Choose ‘Good’ or ‘High’ not ‘Disabled’, Disabled removes the Outline and adds sparkles

I took this addon https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/derangement-minimapblips and extracted the up to date blips file from the Wow client then erased the quest objectives blips from it and replaced the file in the addon with my modified one.

Uploaded it here if you want to try it https://easyupload.io/2aqzpk

So you’ll see it too

The problem with this approach is that I had to update the image file, so that means at any point in time Blizz could update the blips file again and the addon may not work anymore.

It would be cool if Blizz updated the minimap in such a way that addon devs could create an option for players to toggle specific blips visibility, size, etc :+1:
