i have an aunt named sharon and i don’t like her very much because she smells like cat pee
I hate when people react that way. Where I work I come across a lot of jews and they always wish me a happy Hannakuha (sorry my spelling sucks). I am a Catholic and celebrate Christmas, but I never take offense. It is the sentiment behind it that matters.
Although her knowing you called her a troll was pretty sweet.
Happy Holidays. ![]()
Really?
I mean these stories only started to pop up when you know who became the leader of a country…
And it is mostly from his base (cult) sparking up this made up “war on Christmas”.
i would respond with Allahu Akbar
That or she may have heard of it or will look for the term.

The manager at the store who plays got a huge kick out of it.
He didn’t really believe it either but commented on the quick Winter Veil reference. Lol. /flex

I feel the same way. I’ve said Merry Christmas a few times over the years and gotten spiteful responses. Thing is, I HATE “happy holidays”. I remember a few years ago trying to find a Hanukkah card for a friend and all I could find was “happy holidays”. It was so damn annoying. I had to punt to making one myself. (Which he adored, so… win!)
I would be PERFECTLY happy with someone replying to my “Merry Christmas” with a “Happy Hanukkah”, etc. That would be absolutely fine and sweet.
I wish we could just all agree to make that a thing.
Even then that would be appropriate more or less. On face value it is a positive statement.
I really don’t want to. I know I am going end up seeing it. My kids want to see it, they are convinced it will be great because Mandolorian is good and has baby yoda.
I thought I was safe when we walked out of the last one and the only positive thing they said was those little birds were cute.

Psst - it probably didn’t actually happen. People actually don’t pitch fits over being wished Merry Christmas, the “War on Christmas” is a lie. Hint? Agnostics are far less likely to be in the “not celebrating” club than certain fundamentalist Christian groups, Muslims, Jews (any non-Christian religion) etc. In fact, the very idea of an agnostic being remotely offended by a Merry Christmas is not really at all credible. OP’s amusing troll story would have been much more plausible without that little “I’m an agnostic” part, to be honest…

Don’t mind me, just testing new forum features.
Why do you bother random people? In my country people would look at you like you’re insane.

MOST people don’t. There are definitely people who do. But usually only the kind of people who get easily bent out of shape and think the world should revolve around them.
That’s your opinion which is fine.
I tend to stick to posting little things I find amusing that are true. If I was to post things that were lies and trolling, I’d lose track of it all and not really post again. The whole memory thing. Lol.
I’m old school that I actually value my integrity and truth be told? Generally easy going.
So. Believe what ya want. This happened and thought I’d share. It tickled me a bit.

Nope it has steadily been increasing even before Bush’s Iraq Invasion. Even in TV series or movie it has been appearing ( although appears as a comedic scene mostly) wherein a character will say merry christmas then the other person will jokingly reply “I am jewish” etc. Then the other person will just casually say “ oh happy hanukah then”. These kind of political correctness etc is what is making these supposedly harmless phrases have some sort of political connotations.
That’s how a lot of people are reacting now. Not sure why. It’s like a trend or something.
I hate trends.

Bothering random people is a tradition passed down through generations here. We’re very good at it, too.
I’ve never understood the need to get angry over people saying merry christmas. Even if you don’t celebrate christmas - or heaven forbid you’re religious - I don’t see how that should prevent you from celebrating the winter solstice. It gets dark and dreary in winter and I can’t imagine how putting up lights and being happy is a bad thing at all. You don’t have to celebrate the any religious holiday to bring some light into the darkness.
Unless ofcourse you live someone super nice and warm than go ahead and get angry over people wanting to celebrate the winter solstice. However I will continue to happily celebrate near a roaring fire in the freezing temperature.
“I don’t celebrate Christmas! I’m agnostic! You should learn some manners and don’t assume everyone celebrates Christmas!”
Sounds like someone’s getting coal this year. At work I say “Happy 5-day Weekend!”
