Something you did in your WoW newb days that's hilarious now

I thought that when horde was attacking Goldshire that the warlock’s rain of fire and mage’s blizzard was not actual spells from characters but it was Blizzard’s way of showing where a world PVP battle was…by raining down fire and snow.

That got me so excited about going to the other faction’s territories…that I made a troll warrior, level 1, and ran him as far as I could into alliance territory from the Troll starting zone until I just died and died and died. It took me hours, but I got into Westfall I believe.

I kept trying to mine that same copper ore node on the hillside just east of the tower of a Azora, hoping this time I wouldn’t loot lag out of the game.

I was always disappointed.

In RuneScape about 16 or so years ago my first MMORPG experience was me threatening NPCs to give me their gold for me not to kill them. I thought they were fellow players.

I rolled Alliance, for real.

I was leveling in Azshara during vanilla wow and my guild was raiding the dragon there. I talked to this elf npc and he teleported me somewhere and I had no idea where I was. Then the guild chat erupts with “WIPE!!” and a bunch of cursing and people logging out.

I started to log out because I thought the Dragon they pulled was coming to kill me because I was in the guild and in the same zone. When I came back I was super paranoid lol!

tried to solo wailing cavers on my first char (troll hunter) this was back during like early-early wrath. legit spent a weekend on it and spent so much in repairs. I was thinking like, there must be something im doing wrong. i was trying over and over, pulling from different angles. using every ability i had at lvl 16 etc. eventually went to school on monday and complained to my friend (who got me into WoW) during lunch about it and she was like “???”

I have vague memories of not understanding the whole servers thing. I’d end up thinking I lost toons or something when really I was being scooted into different servers. I can’t recall if I was just being dumb and doing that myself or it did that for me.

I got lost in Undercity. Had no idea how to get back out of there.

Back in vanilla I was exploring Azshara on one of Alliance guys on a pvp server and got ganked by a pair of level 60s. Believe I was 30 at the time. Got my body back and jumped off the cliff so they couldn’t kill me again. Then swam west because I knew Ashenvale was just west of Azshara and ended up swiming for a few hours before remembering I hard a hearthstone.

I did too!!

My first char was undead, I will never forget finding undercity by the back sewer entrance…I ran up on it and didn’t know so I went down and entered into this huge city and my mind was blown!

This was before I quit drinking , so I will blame it on the dozen IPA’s :stuck_out_tongue:
I was was doing black rook hold, I believe, in Legions.

My random heroic que finally invites me interrupting my fishing. My double vision was manageable enough to have not gotten squished by the boulders. Some reason the druid was spam yelling in caps at me in Chinese characters though. I remember thinking what a spaz! Before the second boss I asked, in chat ,“What do you suppose he is going on about?” Somebody else said, probably because you have a fishing pole equipped. Class act group! They didn’t boot me.

… An Affliction Warlock without his epic on! lol

Logging out without cloaking in a remote area on the map.

And coming back online dead

I remembered coming down into Undercity on an elevator, but every time I would try to find them again, the doors to them would be closed, so I would think they were dead ends.

My first character was a hunter. Once I saw that there were different colors of the same beast models (ex., condors), I resolved to tame and collect one of each color of beast. I had no idea how large the game world was back then or how many different kinds of animals it had.

Oh that is hilarious.

I was always trying to go where I wasn’t supposed to. I would spend way too much time trying to go over a mountain (before flying) or reach the edge of the map. Complete waste of time stuff lol.

heard that I needed to get rep with a type furbolg that started hostile but I didn’t know which one so I refused to fight any furbolgs anywhere in fear I’d make it harder

Ok prepare yourselves.

So… long long … long ago - I had a Troll Hunter. I wanted to tame a hyena, so I took the zeppelin and made my way out to tame one that I liked… boarded the zeppelin again and was horrified to find that my pet was gone !! I thought, well this must be a bug so I went on the zeppelin again, walked out, tamed a hyena, went back on zeppelin, again my hyena was gone.

It was only on my third attempt, when I was told I could no longer tame pets as I had the maximum amount, that I realized, my hyena wasn’t gone - it was just being dismissed on the zeppelin ride, and all I needed to do was call the pet out again. :man_facepalming:
