Something with WOW is killing my microphone

So i play lots of games and use Discord on a daily basis for general coms with family around the country.

This only happens in WOW.

my mic randomly stops working and i have to reboot to get it to work again.

ONLY WITH WOW.

there has to be a conflict somewhere that causes windows 10 (64 bit) to have a stroke and stop mic function. i have a Sennheiser Game Zero. I ran some tests using only my laptop mic and it does the same thing. i have an ASUS ROG G70(#)1VO(letter). ASUS ROG G70VO.

Fallout 76, no problem, Starcraft 2, no problem. general Discord Use, general Skype, Facebook Facetime, no problem.

i haven’t tried WOW ingame voice, because, i have no use for it, nor does my guild.

its only when i play wow. its been about 3 weeks since the issue started, and its terrible having to reboot in the middle of a raid to get it working. Especially when i have to call out things in the raid to keep us from wiping and my mic goes DEAD.

Has anyone else had this problem? has anyone found a fix?

I am following this because I have been having problems with voice chat as well, except it works fine at first, then its just static issues. I don’t have this problem with any other games, just WoW. Hopefully, someone will know how to resolve this issue.

I was wondering about this, my whole mythic plus team experiences this to some degree only in wow. Frequently we’re also getting an error in the in-game chat about trying to connect to the voice servers but failing. It doesn’t happen in any other game we play.

I am having that same issue as well with the sudden static. I can play Minecraft, SWtOR or anything else except WoW. Even Hearthstone and other Blizzard games are no issue. I first noticed it a month or two ago and thought it was a different issue that i had fixed. However the last few days it has popped back up.
