Something was overlooked in the recent change to elemental shaman

Primordial wave is now doing elemental damage meaning it does fire frost and nature damage. It can proc Elemental Equilibrium with one cast just like Elemental Blast. If you get interrupted on a Elemental Blast cast you are locked out of fire frost and nature schools. Meaning it is a nature ability and it is currently not being effected by Flash of Lightning’s cooldown reduction. I’ve reported this multiple times and still haven’t seen it addressed.

Near as I can tell it’s also not being effected by any relevant Enhancement talents either.

Devs are probably still not sure what to do with it.

You sure it’s not because of the 2 piece bonus that shoots out an elemental blast when you use Pwave?

It used to be a shadow spell during shadowlands, which was the reason you wouldn’t be locked out of its use when Elemental Blast was interrupted, this is not the case now. For a long time it was a fire spell.

Its definitely not affected by ‘Flash of Lightning’ for sure. I was trying it out for a little bit when trying to make a Primordial Lightning Build. It’s kind of understandable that FoL doesn’t, since Primordial Wave has its own dedicated cooldown reduction talent directly below it ‘Rolling Magma’.

It would be great if it was affected by both, as it would present build flexibility. And considering the dichotomy that’s usually presenting the choice of lightning ‘OR’ lava builds, having both wouldn’t even represent a ‘double dipping’ problem. One can not cast lightning ‘AND’ lava burst spells at the same time to save 2 seconds in a global. Rolling Magma is definitely the stronger CDR here due to how Primordial Wave causes Lava Burst to AOE. It’d be more akin to gently enabling lightning builds the opportunity to support some Primordial Wave synergy with the rest of the tree.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. If it was effected by Flash of Lightning It would make lightning builds much more viable and I think people would be much happier with the current tier.
