Well, druids have 4 specs. Keep what specs the four DPS only ones have. Add a 4th spec to each.
People want bards, add that just as a spec for rogue. bards can tank or heal, depending on how they would get tuned.
People want tinkerers so bad. There is your 4th hunter spec, instead of having a pet at all. They would really become one with their trap prowess. As well as some engineering fun. To turn them into a very annoying tank to deal with.
Mage, easy making their 4th spec into a healing one, dealing with time magic and fire cauterizations. You don’t think fire can be used for medial purposes? I would avoid living in the middle ages… lol
Warlock, again, easy making them into a healer, with leaching life, and dots, that would be then transferred into a target of their party instead, or sacrifice their pets as a heal or mitigation CD.
As a tank, you are expected to have a very good understanding of any content you do. You are expected to lead the group. You are expected to know exactly what packs to pull and which ones to skip. You need to know and be able to explain all the mechanics. Ask any tank main and they will tell you the abuse they face in pug groups.
As a healer, it’s your duty to keep everyone alive. Watching the same dps players standing in bad and having to go oom every pull trying to keep them alive. If anyone dies in a pug, the healer is blamed. If the tank makes a mistake, it’s on the healer to resolve the situation and keep everyone alive.
Both tanks and healers are expected to be perfect when playing with randoms. Dps players are so entitled. M+ really made this apparent. I remember many dps players dropping group after a single wipe in +10 keys in Legion. There is no reason for a Tank or Healer to play with random people the way things are. Why go into a key when there is a chance someone will just drop group after a single wipe? I’d rather just play with my friends knowing if someone messes up, it’s just going to result in a roast in coms. Want faster dps queues? Treat your tanks and healers better. Because I remember a time when spending 3 hours wiping in a dungeon was common. Hint hint vanilla.
Keep in mind, this xpac’s linear leveling is tied to accessing many dungeons. Tanks and healers who run dungeons pre-60 often out-level the world quests required to open higher-level dungeons. Many of us would tank or heal for you, but the mechanics in this expansion prevent us from doing so.
For our tank spec, let warlocks throw healthstones at people from the soulwell. Make us have permanent health funnel with the vw, which will tank. Give us a bunch of debuffs and make it so we have to drain life from the boss or use other healing dots to heal ourselves and our vw. It should be enough to be comparable mitigation from a normal tank, but make it so we still need heals or we die.
Hmm. I would go a more Direct approach. Since Blizzard is known to “borrow” concepts from other games, why not ESO.
MagSorc Pet Tank as example. Uses the two pets as shield and group support. Would bring in a new level of Micromanagement but could be very plausible, mix that in with Dark Apoth Glyph cata / mist demo locks.
There are a wide variety of demons lock do not have access to that are not “greater” demons but beefy enough to support the idea.
Still keep the same, but uses a coordinated combination of aggro dancing between Lock and Pet, while 2nd active pet is used to coordinate mild heal bursts to keep a flow of steady aggro while a taunt is on CD.
The goal would be command and control versus, overwhelm / nuke down / drain.
using active CDs / Toggles to make cloth be relatively effective as plate, with proper defensive CDs that coordinate with the thematic of Lock. Stealing / Sacrificing large chunks of health with a steady regen effect to bolster group and pet(s). Sacrificing attack for sustainability, making drain life an AoE (again), shadow volley… etc.
Yet you choose to main a dps only class and you don’t understand why other people do the same? You could have gone with your tank first and been part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
It is alot of work for a tank class that cant dodge mechanics well and will struggle at positioning bosses.
Tank specs need to be melee because in the end that is where the boss will be.
You would need to bring back something like permanent demon form with glyphs to choose what to look like and then make a functional melee spec for the warlock.
Problem is you will step on the toes of demon hunters (and do it better). There is not really alot of options for new tank/heal specs in the game that dont do something an existing tank does.
I disagree. As a druid healer, if there were ever an option to heal on my mage/hunter alts, I’d queue as a healer on them. As it stands now, when I’m leveling my alts, I don’t have that option. So am I not contributing to the problem since I can’t perform my preferred role? I get your point if you’re only looking in the perspective of a DPS-only player. But there are other populations to consider who actually enjoy tanking/healing.
I played a rogue as my main from launch until mid Legion and it is long since past time for that to change. There shouldn’t be an “pure” classes any more.
For real: get a guild. A good guild that doesn’t tolerate the downsides you mention. There are lots out there. Do some research. Unless of course you’ve tried joining no-drama guilds and ended up getting kicked because, as your post would indicate, you are the drama.
