Consider adding some tank or heal specs for DPS classes please. It’s unbearably annoying to try to get into a group or to make your own. It really shouldn’t take over half an hour to form a group only to have it fall apart because there are no tanks or healers. It’s depressing that getting into groups is this difficult.
And to those who say “join a guild”, joining a guild is almost like applying for a job nowadays. Also, a lot of people don’t like the politics and drama of being in a guild. And if you’re on a dead server and refuse to give Bobby your money, you’re out of luck.
To those who say “play a tank then”, I want to play my main of 15 years. If my main could tank, that would be great, but they don’t want to let us do that.
Just know that ordinary social outcasts like me, the type who are the bread and butter nerds who play MMOs, are finding it hard to enjoy this game due to the social gatekeeping and exclusive game design.
Oh, and for everyone that says “vanilla/bc was worse”, it really wasn’t. I never had this much of a problem getting into a group for anything. People were always running things and looking for more, and nobody really cared about ilvl/raiderio/etc. Usually, a group would form in under 20 min, and the culture was very different.
EDIT:
Another ez fix:
Make mythic dungeons queueable. Make the satchel give 6k g and runes.

I find it absurdly convenient that all of these would be tanks are playing pure DPS classes. I don’t buy it, not for a minute. If you wanted to tank you would.

If you’re main could play a tank / healer class, you’d quickly realize how not fun it is tank & heal for demanding / whiny people all the time which creates the long queue times.
Long queue times will never go away in MMOs because tanks & healers are the minority because they have the harder and more demanding roles when it comes to groups. Whenever you play a dps, that’s part of the sacrifice you make playing a dps character. You get to have longer queues, but a much easier time and don’t have to pay attention as much.
If I want a challenge and be on edge the whole run, I play a tank. If I mindlessly want to relax and not have to do a whole lot, I play a dps.

I have a tank alt. I enjoyed tanking in 8.3. But they force you to do the Maw scenario again, and then it takes a while to level. I just don’t want to do it again, and honestly, I shouldn’t have to. I should be able to play the damn game.

As a healer on retail, I’m not queueing. Just tried it, my first experience was a tank with the zoomies and no one realising that fire hurts and adds need to die.
Your queue is long because it’s not a positive experience to heal for the masses that think we can still roflstomp dungeons. Good groups can, but my first experience was not a good group. I won’t be queueing until we have gear that can make up for the lack of skill and critical thinking.

Meh, I leveled my Warrior and DK to 60 already. This is the week to get to cap what you are going to play. You can think you don’t have to tank all you want to, just remember everyone else is exactly like you. I did 9 years as a tank, I’m mostly done with it but if the choice is to sit around waiting for a subpar tank of just doing it myself I do it myself. I don’t see a lot of people making that same choice.

It’s a videogame. People are supposed to be able to have fun and play every class. If tanking/healing is this miserable, they should look into making it less so. It’s a failure of game design.
And like I said, the asymmetry due to the existence of pure DPS classes automatically dooms the queues already. It’s time they did something about this. It’s been a problem with WoW’s design from its inception, and it will drive people away because people like me who have no life and actually want to play can’t.

Blizzard didn’t make tanking terrible, the players have.

Every single class they’ve added to the game post-launch can either Tank, Heal, or in Monk’s case, both.
The problem has never been that there’s a lack of Tank (or Healer) specs.
The problem is that way more people want to DPS than they want to Tank or Heal.

This. You can hide behind the bs reason of wanting to play a Warlock etc, but the truth is you don’t want to tank or you would.

Also, You’d have more healers and tanks if folks didn’t treat them like crap, too.

If people would stop mistreating us we wouldn’t be so rare in pugs.
Adding more tank classes/specs wont alleviate the issue because its endemic to the LFG.

None of you seem to acknowledge that this is horrible game design. Every class should be able to play and have a good time. That’s the entire point.

I have friends. Not too shabby in the queue department.

I unironically think Blizzard should make fourth specs for classes instead of making a new class next expansion.
Every single MMO that has ever pulled away from this kind of group design has failed miserable. I don’t think a lot of people will sympathize with this. The expansion just launched last week. You have plenty of time to level a tank/healer.

You have allegedly played this game for 15 years and won’t acknowledge that you don’t understand how it works. It isn’t a game design problem, it is a player behavior problem.

People have complained about this for years, & in every other MMO I’ve ever played. Because everyone wants to DPS, but too few want to tank or heal.
I think I’m gonna use my level boost cookie for a healer, because I like healing.

Not to mention the pvp side of things where half the forums scream for tanks to be banned from pvp. Not a very inviting role at first glance to get in to.

Correlation isn’t causation though.
And no, I’m not going to level another alt just over this. I’m sick of this. I’m going to complain about it. It’s frustrating.
Laugh all you want. It’s depressing enough to have a hard time getting into groups IRL, but then you get the same problems in game. Eventually, it will kill the game. Imagine you’re a new player coming in and you just want to play. Surprise! You can’t. What a great experience.
And I disagree that it is a player behavior issue. It’s caused by the asymmetry in the design. For example, you’re saying tanking is a thankless job. Why is that? Because they made it that way.

How is it going to kill the game? You have played for 15 miserable years supposedly and you haven’t quit, you just came to the forums to whine. Do you even do content that matters in the first place?
