Something is broken with the new eye-shine

Now it’s a bad looking dot that follows your camera, and in some cases makes you look blind.

Examples, old and new shine.

The newer preview looks more soulless as well.

Here’s a much better example. https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/17eghby/the_eyes_in_the_game_are_absolutely_broken/

It just baffles me on how anyone thought this was a good idea, Needs to be reverted as soon as possible. There was nothing wrong with the eyes before the change.

Once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it.

This is precisely why my character is blind, and why I don’t play gnome. It’s particularly aggravating on them.

I can’t imagine a dumber thing to complain about. :dracthyr_crylaugh:

As I’ve said regarding this same exact topic in a recent FFXIV thread.

Most the art, photography and cinematography communities would disagree.

Good eyeshine is tantamount to not look blind or as someone who kicks puppies.

Edit: Hm… it would appear that both my examples are now using the new shine… Thanks Goblane for the thread, though can’t personally post those examples here any more after the month long ban i got a while back.

Goblins got the worst of it because of how poorly this was implemented.
We now have 2 eye catchlights. The first is the painted on one (Which was perfectly fine) and the second is the “dynamic” one.
Take one look in character create and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Ok well goblins now no longer have 2 catchlights/eye shines. Still looks awful though.

Gonna bump this up because it still looks pretty bad.

I don’t see the problem… humorously staring into your soul

Yeah, wouldn’t mind this bit of weirdness getting reverted.

They ruined eyes completely. Not just the ridiculously bad light dot, but also the color of the white of the eyes, the way blind eyes look, etc. It’s super bad.

Man I’ve been looking at OPs pictures for like 5 mins and cant tell what the issue is.

Try the reddit link below it.

Can I be frank?

They both look like garbage.

Bumping this up. The new white dots even look off on certain helmets where the eyes are still visible.

Bumping up again. They use the old eyes in the pre rendered cut scenes. Why not on the actual player characters again? It would look so much better. Glowing eyes such as death knight eyes don’t have this problem. Why should regular eyes have to suffer?

Why? :dracthyr_crylaugh:

You’ve necro’d this 5 times. Just knock it off. They’re not gonna change it back. This whole thread got 0 attention until you brought it back almost a year later.

I can barely see a difference in the eyes in those pictures, granted I’m on my phone and I can only zoom in so much.

Wierd thing to be bothered about for nearly 2 years though.

Ok. Guess I’ll make a new discussion to bring more attention to it.
