So I’m not going to bring this up as a QQ post, more as a discussion post, since the change to cocoon is sold as just freeing up an honor talent for mistweavers. I find few people understand that there’s 3 different absorb values for cocoon, but this change is a 600k absorb nerf on the castweaver cocoon.
The cocoon most fisties run is the short cocoon, 55 second cooldown, 240k absorb (due to 40% reduced absorb as the cost).
The cocoon that’s baseline, but no one uses, but everyone will be using next patch is 400k, with a 1 min 15 sec cd.
The cocoon castweavers use currently when stacked to 50, which takes a bit to generate, is a 1 min 15 sec cd and is a 1 million damage absorb, which we’re losing the option of next patch.
It’s a talent we currently soak 5 talent points into as castweaver (since it forces us to take essence font, which we don’t use) and one honor talent currently (4 talents and 1 honor point as fisty, since they actually use essence font), and after this change it will be 5 talent points with no honor talent. This point is where I’d say it’s justifiable that it’s an insanely strong cooldown, given that the survival cooldowns of other healers is often one or two talent points… That said, a 1 million absorb is prettttttty crazy. I didn’t realize just how high the scaling on that was at 50 stacks.
I personally am not opposed to scaling it back, it’s just… scaling it back by 600k without even mentioning the balance implications of that, seems kinda sketchy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s strong in other ways, and provides a 70% healing buff during that time, along with all our hots… but that goes away when cocoon goes away, and soaks a lot of talents for it to be the case.
Thoughts, opinions? Genuinely curious.
