Something corrupted

Hey everyone, I don’t know alot about computers, but a few years back, you guys helped me build my own.

My issue is sometimes while running wow, my screen turns black for a sec then it restarts. This has been happening for a week now. Today it went black, then the screen turned fuzzy/green, made a short screeching sound, then restarted.

All the software is updated and I frequently check for heating issues. I suspect the video card. My build is about 5 years old

Intel i5-8400 1ga1151
Cryorig h7 49.0
Asrock z370M Pro4 ATX LGa1151
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDr4 2666
Seagate - Firecuda 1TB3.5 7200
Zotac Geforce GTX 1060 6gb
Powersupply 520W 80+

Hard to say with these things. The loud noise could be audio from whatever you were doing before the crash.

I would download DDU and the latest drivers from nvidia.

Install DDU and have it wipe all your current gpu drivers. Go into safe mode and install the nvidia drivers you downloaded. Then see if it still crashes.

i5-8400 immediately tells me the hardware age. There is a good chance Zotac GTX 1060 still got warranty. Unless u did not register online.

What is the power supply brand and model? Antec HCG 520W? Seasonic S12 II 520W?

Get it fixed?
If not can try the suggestions for using Windows build in SFC scan and or the DISM command as well.

If the PC is 5 years old maybe it’s a good time to repaste the CPU and even the GPU, there’s lots of videos on YouTube on how to.

If you don’t have a nvme SSD yet then that is a great upgrade as well. Can still use the sshd as a storage drive.

Could also check for bios updates for the motherboard.

All those suggestions aside, Wow has been giving alot of ppl freezing issues in game, which we never really had before pre patch.

Sorry for the late response. I repasted the CPU, used Hwinfo for heating, cleaned for dust, and ran some scans using CMD. It did find corrupted files and supposedly fixed them. Not sure how those files got corrupted in the 1st place?

My PSU is a Seasonic S12 II 520W

Also, thanks for the replies. I haven’t played wow in awhile because of work and the fear of the issue happening again >.>
