Something about the mail

Trying to remember. There was some issue with the mail back then. Anyone recall? It was super slow getting mail to alts and from AH. IT was improved not long after I started , just after TBC launch. I don’t know if this would be considered a feature of the game then and included in classic or if the mail will function as we are used to. Hmm

player to player mail takes an hour, mail from AH is instant I think.

Unless you want to send them a love letter, then it’s instant <3

That’s now. This was like you get it tomorrow…maybe. Very slow horses and worgs

I’ve read in a few places that “Mail from the same account, regardless of attachments, arrives immediately”. I meant to test it during the stress test…

No, I think it’s always been an hour. Currently, your alts and guildmates get it instantly, but I don’t remember if it’s that way in Classic. There was also a difference between it being gold or not-gold. I think gold always got delayed.

Vanilla only had 1 spot to send items, but I noted that Classic has the same mail capacity as the current version. I didn’t do any testing in the Stress Test, but suspect most of the current mail system is intact.

I don’t think anything ever took more than an hour, though.

Not a love letter, but I do remember attaching some random junk to a piece of mail because I didn’t want the recipient to read the mail immediately xD

Well, glad to hear you testers didn’t notice anything unusual with it. Evidently what I recall, those many years ago, must have been a technical issue and not considered part of the game content or ‘working as intended’.

Yup, there was a difference in sending gold and also only one thing at a time. Stock up on postage stamps!

During the last stress test weekend I sent mail between my alts to see.

It takes an hour for the mail to get delivered. I didn’t buy anything from the AH, but people in trade said that was instant.

The change where you can send 12 items at a time was available, too.

I don’t know for certain if that’s how it will be at launch, but that’s how it was during the stress test.

its always been an hour (and still is in retail) the mail system was changed in cata when guilds got revamped mail between alts and guild members became instant mail to other players and the AH still takes 30 minutes to an hour

Guild mail arriving instantly was a Cata guild leveling perk that stayed after the perks were removed I believe.

Oh, you wrap up gifts of exposing armor pieces? How very naughty… I bet the one hour wait while you level with him/her was secretly erotic as something so hot is delivered to them.

“Oh wow, thanks Lagspike, this gives amazing stats! … why are you staring?”

Mail between alts takes an hour in Classic. I noticed it in beta. It is instant on Live.

I do remember a bug in early original that would get mail stuck for a day or two, but it was just a bug iirc.

I feel like I remember the person buying something on the AH got the item they bought instantly. The person selling the item had to wait an hour to get their money.

The neat thing? Five days and five hours from now, we’ll know all this for sure!

FIVE DAYS. Can we make it?

I think you’re exactly right.

I think they did this so Blizz systems could check for gold seller activity? I remember when gold sellers would send gold to 5-10+ accounts (washing it basically) and then doing the same thing when transferring gold to 1 account to give to player who bought gold.

Hopefully the updated systems will be better able to detect and take out gold selling after 15+ years of learning / upgrading how they operate.

They can just do player to player trade, so the wait time doesn’t do much there.

The hour delay in the mail system appears to have been preserved as reported by both Mashable and Wowisclassic:
