It takes away the most commonly used laundering method. A lot of gold selling is going unpunished currently, because the transaction is disguised as a legit GDKP cut payout. By banning GDKP, these gold sellers can no longer use that to disguise their transactions. But a lot of those transactions were for to buy gold for use in GDKPs anyway so it’s not like the ban is misplaced.
After a month, we’ll see what the data says and you can gloat about being right if gold selling activity doesn’t decrease.

This same sentence has been thrown around on this forum innumerable times over the past months.
We know how GDKP works. Everyone knows how it works. It’s not complicated. There’s no secret that is gonna make people say “ohhh, that’s what it is? well I like that!”

Its like when years ago the cops sent a letter to everyone in the area with warrants saying they won Washington Redskins tickets and to show up at the convention center to receive them. They waited in line, verified their name on the list with ID, went through the next door and were promptly arrested.

This is actually preferable to GDKP. Doesn’t destroy the economy, still reduces demand for bots.

yep, we’ll see the people who were already gold buying and playing in GDKP just continue to gold buy and GDKP.
It turns out that cheaters will continue to cheat.
Anyone who was GDKPing but not gold buying (or cheating/TOS breaking in general) will stop playing GDKP.
This ban only removes player agency from legit / non TOS breaking players and doesn’t address the real problem of botting and gold buying which was already against TOS, just not enforced effectively.

I agree that some will continue but the majority of the cheaters will either just quit because now they have to look for these special communities.

Waiting for the youtube documentary of this event when a bigtime GDKP organizer decides to quit the game and take the entire TOS breaking community with them.
if a small group of players wants to hand money via paypal around their little circle of friends for pixels better players get free, nobody cares as its not hitting the ingame economy.
whaling andy having full bis in his trash rmt run where nobody is parsing anyways doesn’t matter as long as his money is staying out of the actual game.
now it cannot be advertised in game and they cannot easily pickup/pay pugs from in game. that will do plenty to mitigate the harm it would otherwise do

If you’re going through all that trouble I have my doubts you’ll get yourself banned.
And if you do just send your crap to some streamer/youtuber they love crap like that because it gives them content to feed off of and Blizzard will react faster to them.

All I’m saying is you can go ahead and fall on that sword for the rest of us. I have zero faith in blizzards automated detection and multiple layers of auto-close bot ticket responses.
If you’re sending a video it’s not automated detection because they will have to watch the video.

Cause they can’t sell the gold. That’s the other side of it that the “legit GDKPers” don’t want you to see. A lot of them probably sell gold to pay for their sub.
On d2jsp, only the founder of the site gets paid cause nobody else can cash out.
