Some questions?

Hey all… so I have a few questions to ask regarding the way wow is being run on my computer. I have noticed as I fly around and such that my game tends to freeze. Rather annoying. Also when mounting my character doesn’t appear on the mount or anything however I’m still moving. Interfaces also don’t load. They kinda do but most of it is invisible. Anyone know why this is and if there is a wya to fix this. It’s quite frustrating. My computer isn’t even 5 months old. I just feel like I shouldn’t be having these issues.

Thanks so much in advance.

I’m wondering if this is a Blizz-side issue. I’ve just fully upgraded my computer for SL, and it was all perfect, but in the last week I’ve noticed the thing’s you’re noticing as well. Everything freezes, yet my ping is rarely higher than 7. It’s strange.

Hopefully it can be fixed soon.

Oh, and flashing, and flickering shadows and textures.

Not too sure. I can’t imagine Ping having to do with actual game freezes. I’d imagine that only affects spell casting etc.

Do you have WoWhead running? (Can sometimes cause delays)

What are your computer specs?

Have you tried installing a different set of drivers? (I use just the video card drivers for my AMD box for example since crimson hasn’t worked well for me so far)

I tried using an ssd instead of regular hard drive recently and it didn’t do much to help. I think its server is slow to load textures.

My wow is also on an ssd

I haven’t tried any other video drivers other than the current AMD one.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600
AMD Radeon RX 580

Yeah. I am honestly not sure what to do. I’m at my wits end. It’s so freaking frustrating to not be able to play for like 5 seconds because it just freezes. Come to think of it. I don’t recall any other game having the freezing issue. Not overwatch or diablo. Seems to just be wow where I’m having issue.

Mines a Rx 460 run pretty good and new had to upgrade my old one was giving problems and had no drivers to update ,sad had to shoot my tank card but oh what a change.

Not to sidebar too much: Wow! A ping around 7? That’s amazing. I’m jazzed when it’s around high 30s low 40s

Hrmm that’s a decent card! Yours benches about 63% better than my RX Vega M GH I use for gaming. (If it helps any I’m on 1920x1080 and run the game on 7).

I’m stumped as to why you’re lagging then. Performed standard troubleshooting like removing addons and doing a reinstall?

You could also try just installing the GPU driver without the software. That was ultimately my issue with my card.

Could it possibly be my ram? I only have 8 GB of ram.

I have tried no addons and a reinstall. Yes.

Also running at 7 and at 1920x1080

Might be the ram, I’m at 32 gb of ram (3200 MHz)

That’s the only thing I didn’t troubleshoot and since coronavirus wanted to ruin the world I have been unable to make not super necessary purchases. Ugh. So frustrating!

It’s all new for us in our town, (In Australia.) We got NBN (National Broadband Network) in April, and it’s been great. For the many years prior our internet has been terrible. I think we were sitting on 0.7 - 0.9 mb per second download!

:sob: Us right now. We’re on the outer core of Palmerston (Canberra) next to a huge field. I let my dad/mom use the internet and I use my mobile for my internet. Downloading WoW is letting it do it over night for a couple nights while I sleep. It’s good motivation to save and move out one day though!

I’m just trying to think of what else might be up. Did the issue start after any update or just randomly?

I honestly can’t recall when it started. I got my pc during the current patch and from what I remember I did not have any of this freezing then so I have no freaking idea what’s doing this.

It’s worth trying the driver thing I did.

Uninstall your GPU drivers including whichever one you’ve gone with (Adrenaline or whatnot).

Then restart the computer, in device manager right click your GPU and select find driver, select the AMD folder on your C drive and let it only install the hardware drivers (it didn’t install any extra software for me).

Worth a shot.

Besides trying that I guess my only option will be to try more ram. If not then idk how much wow I’ll be playing. Which sucks.

Does setting Direct X to 11 Legacy help at all? I needed to use this setting when I had my old computer prior to upgrading in June.
