Some of wow's problems

1-Lack of class fantasy, we only had that in Legion. That was it. In contrast in FF14, you get class fantasy the whole time.

2-Reward system out of whack. This is partly the result of getting rid of gear vendors.

3-No flying at max level while content is relevant.

Please fix.

with the xmas event going on, i’ve found travel for lowbies to be seriously annoying right now

they removed pandaland portals for some genius idea which just makes it worse

Ya, New Dalaran can be used now, it has even more than Pandaland did, including the portals in the middle.

They are trying to make mage portals great again!

The reward system is out of whack but it really baffles me how often people bring up “gear vendors.” Where do you guys keep getting this from? When has there ever been relevant gear from a vendor? Is it a pvp thing? I don’t know anything about PVP, but in PVE vendor gear has always been trash level gear there as a catch up for alts or at best a titanforge prayer like in Legion when you were hoping for an arcanocrystal.

Either way, vehemently disagree on the flying thing. I’d rather see flying removed from the game outright, and certainly do NOT think its a problem in any way that there is no flying at max, nor do I think that a year in the content isn’t relevant any more.
The way I see it though, the game is made on the ground. NOTHING can happen in the air. No combat, no herbing, no social interactions, no objectives, no anything. Just travel, and I feel like the people who think flying is some important part of the game just don’t really have much interest in a persistent world that should be a corner stone of an MMORPG.

Anyway, after saying all that, I am deeply interested in your point #1.
Its not something I’ve ever really considered, and even in legion I didn’t feel like I really understood what they meant when they said something like that.

So, what would you define as “class fantasy?”
What was special about Legion that made you feel a certain way and what is missing in BFA that makes you feel the opposite?
Is it something like the order hall, and the artifact stuff?

To me, my only real notion of “class fantasy” is surrounding uniqueness in combat and challenging scenarios.

Like, for example, going into bear form as a druid is a way to reduce the amount of damage you will take. That’s class fantasy, and was nerfed from Legion but is still very potent in BFA.

Or, Blood DK having huge HP, getting hit hard but topping the HPS charts as a tank, compared to other tanks who have no self healing at all.
That represents class fantasy to me.

I am very interested in hearing what you guys think about this though, as its a topic I don’t see brought up a lot and one that I imagine I can sympathize with depending on where you are coming from.

I hate this thing about “class fantasy” I don’t remember at all hearing that back in mop or before when classes were great. It’s like when classes started getting pruned in wod they started using that term.

I agree on the lack of class fantasy. Legion was a good step in that direction, but unfortunately they threw that away to replace it with faction fantasy, something I’m sure nobody asked for.

Rewards just need to be more predictable. I made my peace with the fact that even my most precious piece of gear will be garbage next tier, but at least take the RNG out. Reintroduce a badge system that has worked so well in the past and let us buy exactly what we want. Then once you have everything maybe let us spend extra badges for a roll at titanforging a badge item.

I never cared much about no flying outside of Highmountain. Unlocking flying is way more annoying than it needs to be though.

Ya class fantasy in FF14.

At 1 PM im a tank
At 1:30 im a ranged physical dps
At 2:10 im a healer.
All on the same character, not even druids are that forced.

rofl.

I agree that they should reintroduce things like order halls and class specific quests and bonus anyway.

Let’s be fair ok? Game has flying. Done, that ship has sailed 11 years ago.
They should therefore introduce more things designed around flying.

Okay it’s very simple…

In Cata, you got decent gear that made you competitive in raiding, you got a full tier set, same in MOP, that trend continued for a long time, but one day either during MOP/Legion it suddenly stopped…

Getting a nice tier set that made me competitive in raiding from vendors was was basically the end-game, I would farm my valor points, and buy a piece of gear.

Now, there’s none of that…and I don’t feel motivated to do invasions, why would I with all this RNG, I’m not going to do something when i might get a cloak 100 times over…RNG works in Diablo, but it just doesn’t work here in wow.

Wow is an mmo, where you need to have end-game structure, things that you can work towards every week…that’s the problem…

It most certainly is and up until Legion, the pvp gear vendor very much mattered. Many pvp players have complained about restoring pvp vendors and we all believed Ion in a Q&A where he said they would return, but he lied. That’s another reason we see MoP as the last time pvp was at its best since there was a clear progression path to improve our character in pvp related content. Now we have to raid or do mythic+ to get empowered in pvp. Total garbage

Trash level gear??? Back in Wrath of the Lich King, Frost Badge vendors got you gear that was as strong as the drops of normal raid boss. That wasn’t trash to anyone but an heroic raider. Late BC gear also had super strong badge gear.

I am tempted to log onto all my alts and give you 20 love hearts for this statement, because you are right, THIS is the central point.

I dont think he has played from BC to Mop so he does not realize the badge system gave you comparable gear to fill your slots out, so you would not get stuck. The system was basically bad luck protection, so you could move forward into higher tier raiding and dungeons smoothly.

If you know nothing about pvp why are you a mvp? Why reply when you know nothing about pvp? Come on man…

I, too, miss the “class fantasy,” or class-focus of Legion. BFA is majorly faction-focused, which is an ok change of pace to me, but having additional incentives to try another class (all that sweet, sweet Lore and class-specific moggery!) was cool.

Holy cow, agreed. The vendor gear in Wrath was amazing. You got the tokens to buy that gear from the raid bosses, so I’m not sure where Metro is coming from with gear vendor not being relevant. It was absolutely relevant. Even in Heroic raids, you needed the equivalent normal piece of gear, PLUS the token that dropped from the boss to upgrade. That seems pretty dang relevant to me.

I don’t PVE much, but I can tell you from a PVP perspective, that gear vendors were very valuable to PVP.
You earned your honor points (or conquest, respectively), and you went and purchased that highly needed upgrade that you had been eyeballing for a week.
You watched your power grow as you added to your set, and got your bonuses.
Cata and MoP are perfect examples of a good gearing system utilizing PVP vendors. Even WoD had a decent gearing system, but from Legion and on, PVP gearing is terribad, and vendors need to make a come back.
It’s sheer laziness on Blizzards part not to have them.
I guess they don’t want to pay artists to design the gear, or code them into the game.
There is exactly NO valid excuse for there NOT to be gear vendors.
If I recall, you could earn valor points and get decent PVE gear in Cata as well.
It gives you a goal to work towards, instead of praying to RNJesus that you actually get a drop you can use.
I have won 7 BG’s in a row tonight, and my reward was: 1 ring and 1 pair of gloves. The rest was potions and for some reason some random meat… that is NOT progression, at all.

They removed the old portal parks because they are making new portal parks in Stormwind and Orgrimmar…which will be out with 8.1.5. No, that is not a mistake, that is the reason why the portal parks are being removed. I’ve seen screenshots of the SW one and it does look nice but if they were going to remove the other portal parks it should have been when the replacement comes out, not a whole .5 before.
