Some Lore about the cinematic

Don’t get me wrong, I’m pissed because of the cinematic… But now that I’m a little relaxed, wanted to say this:
Everything seems to point that Zovaal was the one judging the souls before the orb was taken from him. Maybe that’s why he decides to leave Sylvanas to the mercy of the heroes. I mean, maybe the orb gave him the judgment skill taken away from him? I don’t know, but I have to admit that at least that is interesting.

The two feel kind of unrelated. If Zovaal is/was the Arbiter, how would that at all correlate to him just ditching Sylvanas? I feel like he’d be more compelled to actually judge her, not less.

Perhaps I’m behind on the story line, but what did Sylvanas mean when she said “We cannot let him reach the…”? It was right before she passed out.

The sepulchre.

It’s more just his evil personality. He could have killed us all there, but he didn’t because he wants to see everyone broken and serving him instead of outright dead. There’s a sadistic tendency there, he likes watching others suffer. So to him it was amusing to let Sylvanas be left to the people who hate her.

And he’s not really concerned about any of us being a future threat now that he’s armored up again.

Maybe the soul of Azeroth

The Jailer’s next stage of the plan is to go to the Sepulcher, a place built by the First Ones in the SL. It has forbidden information about the making of the universe and all of reality.

Zovaal was imprisoned in the first place because long ago he tried to get into there by force. Now he’s going off to do it again. We don’t know exactly what’ll happen though, but Sylvanas doesn’t like it either.

More like the secrets on how the first ones created existence. They jailor wants to create his own reality. And that’s how he’ll be able to do it as if he finds out how the first ones did it

That’s true, but I’m still thinking about the Jailer first words when doing the intro at the maw. It was something like “death claims the soul of your world”

I mean, for some reason Azeroth looks like is way more important than other soul. And again, why the Jailer is so interested in Azeroth? Every plan he has done (plague, lich king, etc) involve Azeroth

Thank you for the update! I need to get back into following the story more deeply. I just realized The Primus even mentioned it.

The sepulcher of knowledge.

Also known as the Reorigination device but for the universe.

It’s the same story as Ulduar with Alagon.
But this time with more nipples.

I don’t think there was ever any lore regarding soul splitting before Shadowlands. They just made it up. That’s a big problem I have with it.

They no longer seem to care about the story up until the current point. They just make it up as they go. So it’s impossible for me to care about it.

Maybe he need the soul of azeroth to make a new reality. Perhaps the titans were the tool the first ones used to create all the plans of reality.

The titans weren’t the first ones.

Azeroth is the last sleeping titan and the most powerful by far. He probably needs her power to power the machine OR when the first ones made the titans, they made them as keys IE: It takes 1 entity from the material plane and 1 entity from an elemental plane to access the white room in the matrix.

At this point we are just gummufin chaining.
Stop him getting the sigils!
Stop him getting to the spulcher!
Stop him getting to the world soul!

One thought came to mind, you can commit genocide and be forgiven. Yup Storywriters need help big time. I seen people bringing up Darth Vader, Well he was dead at the end of the story redemption or not.

I suspected Zovaal was the original arbiter for sometime and they built a machine to house the orb once he was overthrown and cast into the maw. The more this story flows the more he seems to be based off a “Thanos” type villain - who believes they see some great wrong and need to correct it. According to Sylvannas he wants to break it all down and rebuild it, because right now no-one is actually free. Maybe after years of deciding fates he had an epiphany that this system was unfair. But you know, he is fine oppressing people / souls against their will in his ‘freedom’ cause.

I have no idea where this is going, unless he does some sort of “remake reality finger snap” and that’s the WoW 2.0.

Same. I really hate this two souls thing. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. There’s no consistency in how it’s being treated in any of the characters, and it’s just something being used as an excuse for certain characters’ behaviors - but only when it suits them.

Or, so it seems. I keep wishing for Blizzard to surprise us with something that makes sense instead of all these OMG moments used for shock value. Oh, how I would have loved if Zovaal and Sylvanas were actually the good guys in this whole mess. Now, that would have been shocking and could have led to interesting story. Now, it’s just shock leading to stuff where they keep writing themselves into corners and the only way to get out of those corners is to write something shocking again - that still ends up making no sense.

Well seeing his next step is to try and destroy our reality so he can rebuild one that suits his desire, I have to question that “judgement”.

The other problem I have is they end up overwriting so much story when they do stuff like this.

Sylvanas’ actions going back to Cataclysm now just don’t matter. Nothing she did since then matters because she was ‘missing part of her soul.’

If they are going to do something like this, a character’s entire arc needs to take place in the same expansion and it needs to feel organic. Like it was always intended. And this definitely… doesn’t.

This entire expansion feels like fanfiction.
