Some Knowledge Points Don't Feel Like They're Working

I have 40 Bountiful Harvest, 40 Botany, and 40 Spear Scavenger. That’s 120 points, and I’m lucky to pull a singular level 1 quality Arathor’s Spear. Even lush ones give me 1-2 unless I proc Finesse which I have 23% but doesn’t feel like that. Even then I’ll sometimes just get 1. Says the difficulty is 120, I’m max Herbing, with 223 skill, and quality 5 green prof gear. Arathor is already relatively rare from my herb/mining runs around the usual spawns, and to have 120 points giving me a singular bronze Spear feels awful.

They’re required for Inscription, Alchemy, and just really necessary herbs alongside Luredrops which also seem to just not drop much despite also having 15 points into that. I’m not sure why the drop rate is so low with max KP.

I understand you don’t want the market flooded and what not, but it’d be nice if the points didn’t feel wasted. Dust, Cloth, Herbs, etc. I’d say ore, but I have pretty 50/50 luck with ore. Usually can get about 150+ of most ores in a quick hour or so fly around. The ratio of the quality is pretty evenly split and I’m not fully specced into Bismuth yet. I got well over 300 Bismuth 1/2/3, About 150 Ironclaw 1/2/3, and about 100 Aqirite 1/2/3.

Herbs though, I’m making truffle sniffing pigs go out of business with how much Mycobloom I have, but the other herbs outside of Blessing Blossoms just don’t seem nearly as abundant or varied. It’d be really nice if herbs were more locked down like previous expansions instead of 2-3 being abundant everywhere and a few only spawning in specific places that get taken over by the more common herbs.

I just can’t see how having close to double skill is netting me next to no herbs. Full run got me almost 600+ ore of varying quality. A fair chunk of quality 3. Herbs? About 300 Mycobloom and about maybe 50-60 of the other herbs a lot of them being 1-3 at best mostly around quality 1-2 despite speccing into a few.

I think the problem is the way they are herbs/ores are designed. The only Common ones are Mycobloom and Bismuth. So you notice the effects more with them because they already have a higher yield. Which means the percentages affect them more.

Where as the rest are Uncommon and the base yield is low so the % doesn’t impact them nearly as much.

Ores I can usually find no issue. Granted it’s 3 ore vs 5 herbs, so obviously gotta factor that in, but even so I feel like 1 of the lowest quality herb when fully specced should be rarer. Even then if I want Bismuth that spawns everywhere and Bismuth is probably the most used in recipes so it works out. Ironclaw is super common in the Dornogal area/Hollowfall/Ringing Deeps. Hollowfall/Ahj nets you a ton of Aqirite and a mix of the other two.

If I need those ores I know exactly where to go. While I know where to go for Arathor and the latter herbs, the economy feels really bloated from the more common herbs.

I get a fair amount of quality 3 Arathor’s Spears when out and about. I have a similar talent setup as you but I’m also now going into Cultivation for more perception. I also use a perception tool right now rather than a finesse one. I think quality is more important right now than quantity. There’s usually a lot of spears in the bee area but you need to be quick. Being a tauren druid helps with getting those. Otherwise grassy areas or areas near water seem to have a fair amount of it.

Yea. I seem to have the best luck in the bee area, as well as hitting up Hallowfall seems to be a pretty solid spread of Spears. I can get them, but the spread compared to others just seems super low. I wanna say while general herbing I got 10 Q3, about 30-40 Q2, and about 40 or so Q1. Which sadly is not a lot for Inscription lol. At least milling gets you a fair bit.

Mine might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t really dig the rank/quality system for trade goods. I’m not well versed on the functionality, does it add anything to the game?

No, a lot of people agree. It creates this artificial difficulty/limit. Plus if you just don’t have the means or skill to get the higher quality you have to wait for concentration, or spend insane cash to get more. It’s a neat system, but definitely needs some tweaking imo. I really do miss just grabbing the mats I need and making my items.
