I’ve noticed that randomly the game will revert the scrolling combat text setting back to its default disabled setting… I constantly find my self in the middle of a raid and its not on and have to re-enable it. Its extremely random though, like today I logged in and its still enabled and working fine.
Now that I think of it they’re times I will log in and the game will begin showing me the tutorial/tooltips like where the guild tab is and how things work, as if its my first time logging in and things got reset, maybe this is when the setting is changing? I cannot confirm this, just a theory. I dunno what would be causing this.
Edit: please let me know if I’m doing something wrong like posting in the wrong section or should be making an in-game ticket or calling/emailing technical support. I just assumed this is where I would get technical support from approved veteran members and/or Blizzard.
I also have another post that is even more crucial than this one which is why I asked.
Hey, Hexidis! It sounds like some of the settings might have some permission issues. There were some issues with the scrolling combat text last year, but this should be fixed up now. I was able to check this on our end and everything should be working and saving.
With this mind, I’d like to focus on some file and permission related troubleshooting.
Check that the folder for World of WarCraft is not set to read-only.
So that sounds like it could be the issue, however its working fine now. I went to go look at the WoW folder properties and it is indeed read only… when i went to uncheck it i got some error… Error applying attributes … the folder path … and then access it denied, i got this error a million times for a million different paths but just selected ignore all.
as for the controlled access folder settings I followed all the steps and got to the virus and threat protection in windows security however i do not see the manage settings button. I did notice that it says Norton security is doing everything so perhaps the manage settings button is not available because its not windows defender managing it and Norton? idk just odd that if it was a read/write error, the folders current permissions are read only yet scrolling combat text is working fine today, it like randomly disables itself. could this be a norton thing?
