Some form of Sharding

Yeah because there wadnf total uproar over sharding in the demo. Oh wait.

No sharding

So subjective…I bet the largest percentage of the people who played the demo didn’t care or even notice.

A total uproar? Comparatively, I’d bet that the uproar was merely weak squelches from very vocal no-changers.

So loud that it got an almost immediate response from watcher and lore.
Not even the current fiasco with the against overwhelming odds got answered as fast.

Being a loud minority doesn’t make you right nor does it make your arguments make any more sense. The “loud” no-changers got a response from Lore that showed Blizz looks favorably on sharding, lol.

Isn’t it ironic, dontcha think?

They said they understood our anger. They said it would be useful for launch.

Beyond launch no sharding.

Is there a eye-roll emoji? You have no idea how they will implement sharding, nor do I. It’s almost like you’ve tricked yourself into believing your own hype and non-sense.

heh some people get silenced for posting a video that is relevant to the discussion yet whiskee practically trolls a huge amount of replies in a 520+ post and doesnt get actioned?

ya thats funny.

they said they might do sharding and only at launch and somehow he comes up with perma sharding to troll everyone out of that post.

seriously stop responding to him below this post and by all means report the heck out of him. whats good for the goose is good for the gander in the terms of reporting stuff we think is trolling.

I linked a Reddit thread to support a debate i was having and the link got removed.

  • Taking the “slippery slope” argument to its conclusion.

  • Most people just want to be able to play the game.

  • Whiskee: “People want to play the game, therefore sharding accepted.”

This is a conflation between tolerance and acceptance. Which is incorrect.

400+ posts of two dudes duking it out over minutia when anything that needed to be said was said in the first 10 posts.

The thread is bigger than it ever needed to be and thats not entirely the making of OP.
The next sharding thread will probably be the same.

An area with phasing technology will have different phases, if you progress through the story and work your way through multiple phases, you’ll end up in the final, phased state of an area.

Being in the final, permanent phase of an area doesn’t mean the phasing no longer effects you. If you enter an area that you have in the final stage of phasing, you’re still entering a phased area.

If you approach a herb and it disappears, it’s because you’re in an area with phasing and you’re moving between the boundary between an unphased area and a phased one.

Let me try to explain a little more. Let’s say you’re in Arom’s Stand and you see a herb in the distance. You move towards the herb and it disappears, this is because you’ve left the phased area. The reason you can see a herb that you can’t actually gather, is because the phased area is spawning an object (ore or herb) beyond the boundary, and that’s why you can’t gather it.

The object still exists there, even when you leave phasing. You can’t see it because the object is only loading onto your client while you’re in the phased area. I believe you can actually test this with a fishing pool. Find an area where the fishing pool disappears and cast your lure into it. Even though you no longer see it, you’ll be fishing from that pool until it disappears.

Phasing is not sharding.

That’s funny because they gave us some form of idea… They said in the starting areas and for the first couple weeks sharding could be useful, but they understand that it needs to be limited to that time and areas, because sharding is antithetical to what classic should be. Pay attention and you would know this.

any amount of sharding, no matter for how long is a change, it ruins the whole idea of classic

And it will probably be started by the op

Interesting, I’ll try the fishing pool thing soon.

I quit Retail WoW due to forced crz and sharding, and if sharding is in for more than the 1st day of classic launch or makes an appearance for any of the world events/boss i will ditch Blizzard games for good.

Go back to playing Retail WoW if you want that crap in you WoW experience. Both forced crz and sharding has runied what WoW was, a RPG. And i suspect sharding and CRZ only serve to lessen the cost of running servers which seems to be the mantra of cost cutting Blizzard has been doing these days. Keep cutting costs Blizzard to a point no one is left in this empty shell of a game that you destroyed.

/end rant

Anyone that wants sharding in Classic is a troll and should be reported for trolling.

Blizzard should be reported for trolling? What?

Yes Blizzard is a troll and the Classic community has been asking Blizzard to stop trolling people with ideas like sharding and loot trading oh and turning retail into a mobile game. Blizzard has been trolling since Wotlk.
