Some concerns of professions in TWW seem to have been addressed

I note that professions in TWW apparently have a levelling weekly cap, which means that we likely won’t see a repeat of the exploit early in DF that had people increasing their professions ranks very fast. So no matter what you do, you will be levelling a profession at the same rate as everyone else, which is good imo.

Also, there will be some sort of catch up for those who might have to miss a week for personal reasons of whatever kind.

Mr Hazzikostas also hinted at a possible return of that much-neglected profession, Archaeology, though it seems if it does come back it will be changed from its current methodology. I hope they do return it, maybe with something similar to ESO were - as with other proffs, you level it up and that increases the chance of higher level rewards. I guess time will tell on that one.

A lot of info on professions is yet to be available as its still relatively early in the Beta. There is a repeat of the Artisan mettle again required for stuff like recrafting, called Artisan Acuity, so they apparently liked that idea. They have added the option of using unwanted AA to buy reagents and other stuff for those who no longer needs hundreds of them sitting in the bag, which is a good idea. Its also good for toons that are multi-gatherers and have little need for the currency.

I’ll leave the rest of the indicated changes for you all to read up on yourself, but the overall impression is that the system for crafting will stay much the same as it has been in Dragaonflight, with some shift in how the system works. So if you like the trees, talents, etc, that seems to be continuing.

Wait, we’re happy about time gating again?

The forums confuse me.

Gating can serve a positive purpose if it allows improvements on an even playing field for those who don’t have the time to spend 24/7 grinding things. In this instance, I don’t mind it at all, personally.

And the forums get just as excited about “too much grind” so you apparently can’t win. :sunglasses:

There’s so much about the current crafting system I don’t like. But if i do play TWW it’s just something I have to accept. I hope gathering professions, at least, are made worthwhile for the duration of the xpac, i.e. mats sell for worthwhile amounts.

You know that is going to be impossible to achieve with region wide AHs, right?

Blizzard has no easy way to control supply/demand now, so the price is inevitably going to drop throughout the x-pack

I’m on one of the lowest populated WoW Realms. It’s near impossible to find crafters.

I dunno. Most mats weren’t worthless in previous xpacs I played though. And crafted stuff wasn’t being sold for less than the cost of the mats. I’m not saying I know how to fix it - just that in this new system gathering could use improvement.

Do you think that having all of the auction house region wide would be good or bad? I have a couple of characters on low pop servers and sometimes the prices on things can be pretty awful.

For crafting materials, it’s a lot more affordable and easier. However, there’s really no buyers of the crafts to begin with. So in order to stay competitive with M+ keys we spend a long time trying to find a crafter or become one ourselves. It took me almost 4 weeks to find someone to make my bracers.

This was one of my deciding factors in moving to a more populated server. The trade channel is flooded with crafters trying to make things for people. Has never taken me more than a few minutes to get anything crafted.

Professions in DF were supposed to be timegated also, but there were several exploits early on that allowed early no-lifers to max out levels and trees early. That left everyone else permanently behind. As long as the cap is increased each week (like flightstones/crests/bullion) to allow catchup I’m fine with timegating. :hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil::see_no_evil:

i didn’t know that professions had a winning element , i guess i play the game wrong

Previous expansions didn’t have region wide AH’s for consumables either. Nikolo is correct in that consumable mats will never sell for what they’re worth… Even moreso because of rampant botting in this game.

Didn’t read past the first sentence?

Did you forget saronite going for below vendor price?

I literally made a killing buying it off auction house just to throw to a vendor…

They kinda do.

I remember back in the beginning of the expansion on EU being expected to tip tens of thousands of gold to people making epic crafted gear. And it was available right at the start damn near, because people exploited their way to cap.

i heard about that , did blizzard ban those groups exploiting that ?

I’m on such a low pop realm I tip 15-25k just because I’m so excited to see a crafter. It takes weeks to find someone!!

I really wish they’d get rid of a lot of the stuff they added in DF for professions and just make them simple again but with more depth. We didn’t need all this extra crap with stats, Mettle, Mat tiers, and it being a huge pain to actually hit level 100 for your profession.
Feel like they should have just had simple spec trees that gave you some sweet bonuses, and requiring a lot more interaction with the world and others. Basically modern day Vanilla professions.
