Some basic rotation questions

I’ve been a resto shaman basically since the vanilla beta. I figure I’d try out enhancement because I’m kind of bored with healing at the moment and I’ve run into some confusion about some basics in terms of rotation.

I kind of cobbled together a stormstruke build with the idea is to have as many SS’s as possible. My plan is basically to, FS,SS,Crash,LL, Then either nova or whatever I need for 10 stacks. This is obviously outside using any CDs

I guess my question is, am I way off here (I’m mostly leveling at the moment with the occasional dungeon with maybe some Mythic+ at some point. I keep reading how Enhance has a zillion keybinds and I feel like I’m missing a ton. Any advice is appreciated!

A link to the build I’m following might help BcQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIRSaQyBSikEHASSLJBAAAAAAAAAAAAAtkgESiAF4AFRSBBlEJBK

As a enhancement player since tbc i highly recommend the single target Hot Hands build. Ive been using this and swapping Windfury Totem for Crash Lightning. Primordial Wave > Lava Lash to spread the Flame Shock > Lightning Bolt. Insane upfront burst and you can max out at 70% haste right now with enough targets

I am by far not the best shaman or even know sometimes what I am doing when I play. I mean heck I am on a low-pop server Staghelm-Azuremyst, My guild has one or two other players in it. My chances of getting into mythic or normal, or higher raids are near non-existent. Yet, I have never had any issues when I play the build I play which has a few minor changes. I have been playing an enhancement shaman since Mist, I played shaman on Classic through Wrath. So, I have a pretty decent idea on how to play.

So here is my build BcQAfcj78nJtvjmejSqe5Zhm9USkkCQSiEJISSJJJAAAAAAAAAAAAA0SCRIRLEAFJJFcAUSkkA

My rotation is
Macro (where I cast Astral shift and lightning shield at the same time)
Feral Spirit
Frost shock
Flame Shock
Primordial Wave
Lava Burst
Lava lash
Stormstrike
lightning bolt
crash lightning
Thunderstorm
Sundering

Use chain lightning when you have 2 or more enemies.

The other thing I do is I am an alchemist so I use more utility potions and healing potions more then most players.

I know my build isn’t what the experts in our class are using or may even recommend. Honestly, I don’t put much stock into the “experts build” I say that because there are still two factors that no expert can show you in playing an Enhancement Shaman 1. Confidence in your abilities to play your character/class and 2. Your own play style.

So my suggestion is to try different things until you find one that matches your play style. I have tried different builds I find some builds a way too slow while I have found some builds to be a way too fast. My build is I think is that happy balance. I have never had any complaints from anyone I have ran with so far.

Keep at it and enjoy.

What? Why would you waste a GCD on Flame shock when primordial wave already applies it.

Open Wolves > Primordial wave and you instantly take 20s off your wolves CD

You must not have read the full description on Primordial Wave: Yes it does apply flame shock so why would someone put flame shock next to it in a rotation? Easy when you are doing solo content you would go frost shock then primorial way other than in content where you are in a group you would use frost shock then flame shock and then primordial wave to heal an ally for 3643. This may not seem like a lot yet with how some bosses or elites hit that could mean life or death for someone like a tank who ran way ahead of a group trying to be a hero instead of a group leader.

Sure I guess I could do my shocks or primordial wave first then pop my pound puppies yet to me this has always been my rotation and it’s just what I am used to anything else just feels weird to me. Besides to me, it’s 15 seconds as long as things just work I am all good. Maybe if I get say in Mythic plus or Heroic or higher raiding then that 15 seconds will matter. However, given that I am even lucky if I ever see a normal raid or even a Mythic 0 dungeon I personally am not worried about that 15 seconds.

Also since I am not doing PVP anymore this build I have I use is specific for the content that I do which is hunting rares, herbing, and just messing around nothing more.

Yeah I am one of those filthy casual players who elitist hate.
