Some Anniversary Event Quests require TWW

The Anniversary Event does NOT notify you that you have to own TWW in order to do Chromie’s quest.

So I wasted over 40 minutes waiting in the queue only to have the game tell me I’m not allowed since I don’t own TWW.

I shouldn’t have even been given the quest, let alone allowed to queue for the dungeon. WTH, Blizz?

I mean… I’m gonna be honest here, why are you even playing WoW without TWW? What exactly is there to do?

old stuff, like mog/transsmog runs

but im with you. its a NEW update, youd think youd need the NEWEST game to play it, lol

It makes sense you’d need the most recent expansion to do new content

But I don’t get why it would allow you to queue in the first place and not stop you until it actually registers a group

This is an anniversary event. WoW is the only game I know of which would demand you own the newest expansion to play an anniversary event. Literally THE ONLY ONE - not only that but it should NEVER have allowed me to Queue for Chromie’s Dungeon if it’s DIRECTLY LINKED to the NEW EXPANSION.

This is my complaint. It should NEVER have allowed me to queue in the first place. Also, it put me IN the group. It just didn’t teleport me to the dungeon.

BTW I am discovering I’m not the only one this is happening to. Others can’t figure out why they can’t zone in - they don’t have the expansion.

I have no interest in TWW, I only ever buy game time to play the halloween event. Most of my friends are dead - I only a couple are still alive but I don’t think they play much - so I just don’t care to stay long in a game that continues to have some serious issues (such as vote kick abuse, missing items, etc…).

do you need money is that the issue? the last time I remember seeing someone not playing the current expansion was back in wrath. They wanted to do TBC stuff first.

I honestly don’t know how to answer your post given it’s clear you didn’t read mine right above yours.

Folks that are mainly Classic players would be my bet.

I’d have to imagine that’s a MASSIVE oversight that somehow got overlooked. The only expansions I’ve personally witnessed without the latest expansion on day one were Burning Crusade at launch and Dragonflight (at least on my EU account anyway).

I can confirm that in both cases, the game either straight up let you know you couldn’t do X activity without the expansion, or the option to even try to queue up for something or go to a new expansion zone just simply isn’t there.

Ahh, good marketing.
Gotta hand it to the WoW marketing team. They doing a bang up job.
Meanwhile the event is just banged up

Pull out the wallet, buy TWW and they also have a exclusive promotion going on until January 6th… to celebrate Warcraft but all they ask is an extra 90$ US for a long boi

Well, not everyone has the time to fully commit to a new expansion when it releases, some others may struggle with the high costs and again others, may play Cata and Vanilla mostly and just want to hop on to the anniversary event.

Back in the days, before MS took over, it was a normal thing to join world events at WOW, without the new expansion, it was also a thing that if you wanted to stay in the old expansion, that game mechanics such as upgrade system, pvp or LFR stayed available.

But since MS took over, Blizzard is forcing all players into the newest expansion, if they refuse they find a broken piece of software that just doesn´t work anymore.

I agree with the OP, that I also don´t know of any MMO´s where this is happening and it shows that paying a sub means nothing to this company anymore.

We can´t even open the reward boxes or trade them to level 80 chars, we can not get loot in LFR unless level 80 and so on. This event is an insult in my humble opinion, I can´t believe they let this go live like that.

Where is old Blizzard, that was the best gaming company, that would never do something like that?

Guys, it’s been said over 6 times now, and I even edited my main post - It was a bug, and they have since fixed it. Thankfully, I do not need the new expansion to play the event.

But, the fact it was bugged to begin with is still frustrating.
