So I have been trying to tame Somber Dawn with my hunters on Stormrage and Area 52, but they never seem to spawn. Is there something I’m missing? Is there a quest line I have to complete before they begin to spawn? I’m not sure what is going on, but I have been trying for days and to no avail. Thank you!
Can you see the skulls on your map when a rare is up?
Btw, whether or not he’s up is completely random. The island has cycles for which rare is up. Also, are you switching back and forth between warmode?

You might want to try in WM on, just to see if he is available. Sometimes you can get rares faster that way.

It’s one of those rares that’s not always up on any given day. I don’t think there’s anything you can do to effect it. Just keep checking back.

No, I never use war mode.
You’re cheating yourself out of rare spawns.

Does War Mode spawn rares or something?
Rares are more likely to be in warmode because most people don’t go in it.

Nowadays there are less people using warmode, especially in older zones. You are probably quite safe just using it to check a mob or rare out. You can then go home and turn it off.
I used it on my hunter when I was trying to tame Oondasta. He was constantly farmed for the mount but in WM I went there and there was no one around.

Warmode is a decent tip, but I’m not sure it would effect which days mobs like this actually spawn on. Is Kroke available in warmode on days he’s not around with it off (for example)?
War Mode did work for my Stormrage Hunter, but not my Area 52 Hunter. But that was a good tip and it at least worked for one of my Hunters. Thank you so much!
