Blizzard literally doesn’t play their own game and their developers are completely incompetent. They should have all been fired long ago.
They got lucky as hell with Classic Wow, and they found a way to ruin that too. They pushed the schedule way too fast despite no one wanting them to rush it, and SoM shows they have no idea why it was successful in the first place.
Of course you’re entitled to your opinion, but don’t pretend to speak for the playerbase. There were plenty of us who would have not enjoyed a slower release schedule.
Yeah, if I was Blizz I’d just start with disabling WB’s and then tweaking the bosses later based on the results. Even the casual guilds were getting world buffs. Disabling them is a huge change already and will represent a significant increase in average difficulty.
When people first start heading into MC in their pre-BIS without WB’s I imagine many raids will have their first experience dealing with sons. By the time we get to naxx I don’t see any casual guilds getting any further than some spider wing. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, I just think there’s probably no reason to buff bosses tbh.
WB’s made a much larger difference than being in BIS. Even the best gear was usually only a marginal upgrade in the grand scheme of getting even 1 world buff.
I think most people who played classic all the way through have a similar experience to me;
Start in casual guild struggle in MC
Realize that Worldbuffs add 3 tiers to your gear, start using and putting up huge parses
Casual players who wont want worldbuffs get quickly replaced by people changing to worldbuff meta
By Phase 2 the non world buff guilds are dead even casual guilds are now recommending everyone world buff. Fights like firemaw go from guild killers to 1 shots.
Naxx rolls out and at this point all casual and non world buffs guild die immediately. Only fully worldbuffed guilds that are semi or hardcore clear naxx, and those guilds rebuff for sapph. Only a couple guilds on each sever ever get Sapph or KT down without world buffs.
For the record I did get them down without world buffs and cleared Naxx on 4 toons per week. I actually enjoyed that more than I enjoy wiping in TBC to bosses with 100 mechanics in fights that last 15 minutes because one dude didn’t pay attention for 2 seconds.
i remember 2 raid guilds i was a part of that both imploded and fell apart because of this exact reason. BiS dropped first night and vent turned into a battle royale!
This happened, but it also depends on a few elements, does the guild have the members for a full raid roaster or not. The guild I was in, only had 20-25 members for this, had to Pug the rest. Another element is if players would actually get in discord or not and listened to doing what there were told to do, this should not be ignored.
WB’s were always HUGE. But we were getting them in a non scarcity way like it was in Vanilla, like exploiting the turn in npc to get it on a time frame.
Not really. They would rather have someone who is willing to stay for the long haul over a short ride. But This was my experience with that vs others.
Not true at all. Plenty of people raided without world buffs.
I have no idea if this is true or not. But watching streamers trying to get to naxx on pvp servers with there WB’s, most of the raid already didn’t have them once they entered .
It won’t be DOA. There’s a certain charm to the journey in Vanilla. The leveling experience is probably the highlight of the game for the majority of players. Which makes it astounding Blizz is changing SoM to devalue that part of the game.
Once players hit max and start the raid grind again…then it will very quickly die off. Classic released content far too quickly, and it’ll be WAY faster in these fresh servers. The loot drama will be ridiculous.
Long story short: Blizz doesn’t understand their playerbase, and never has. They listen to the 1% of forum posters who want to blast through the content as quickly as possible and then complain there’s nothing to do.
Actually, I shouldn’t say they don’t understand their playerbase. Maybe they do, and they just don’t care. It’s not about a long-term, fun experience. It’s about a fast gain of a bunch of subs. Sure, many/most will quit. But don’t worry, they’ll get another fast gain of a bunch of subs in another 12 months. Again and again and again. That’s all this is about.
Did people actually raid with world buffs much in p1/2? My guild only really started buffing in phase 3 and we never saw a single sons phase even on the first week’s MC run when there were literally no ony heads to even drop. Even the few people who did try to get world buffs often lost them to the lava packs.
With the skill and knowledge levels we have today just removing WBs aren’t enough to make encounters outside of a few (early patchwerk, sapph, kt) noticeably different. Even the lower gear levels likely won’t be enough considering how stupidly strong some of the preBiS options are and once we hit AQ 2.5 gear comes easy. Extra HP might not be the best answer, but at least its something I guess.
I agree, but I don’t see that there’s much they can do tbh.
Most players, myself included, burn through content too quickly. We can barely contain ourselves. I think that’s a player issue that would be very difficult for Blizzard to change without redesigning the game from the ground up.
The most fun I’ve had in the game since hitting 70 was healing a dead mines on the beta server. Leveling during that initial rush has always been the most enjoyable. Being a fresh 60 and collecting pre-BIS dungeon gear is fun too.
But I know myself. I’ll be rushing as fast as I can lol. Even if I forced myself to chill out and slow down I’d then hamstring myself for the rest of the season since everyone else will rush to 60 and no one is going to want to carry my slow self through non-max level content.
I’m really starting to understand the people who want fresh. Fresh or seasonal servers seem like the only real solution if you want to consistently get that fun leveling experience. I don’t think what changes they make to raids or season length will make much difference. ymmv
Level caps like Chromiecraft does. 1-19 for say two months. 20-29 for another two months. And so on. Sometimes you need to force players to slow down and smell the roses.
Mechanics, mana management for casters and threat management for DPS all come to mind. They’re also getting rid of world buffs. With a compressed schedule and no increase in item drops? Yeah… It’ll be harder.
