The 40% quest xp increase is a joke for a 12 month game cycle. It makes leveling for casuals 15% faster, which everyone on the forums gets wet in the pants for. But, for those casuals tht used to spend 10days played (240 hour), they will spend 8.5 days played (204 hours). Playing 12 hours a week, that means 17 weeks of leveling.
First 2 phases of endgame won’t include them. With the layering screwups the past 2 or 3 days, everyone that is in STV/Arathi and below are getting screwed on leveling. So, really there isn’t even a 15% increase. I am 33 and still on my regular pace to 60.
I am convinced that the majority of people commenting on these forums don’t actually play SoM. They are just trying to ruin the game for people actually playing the game. Because, I see people everyday get frustrated, log off and they are still offline.
Dungeon grinding is probably the best way to level currently, because to get the mobs for the quests requires you to grp in a 5 man party and you still have to sit and wait for mob tags. I couldn’t even do my normal grinding routes to there being 7 other people killing the same mob.
People can level slowly in regular classic, why punish the people that want to enjoy end-game content on the newest release.
TL:DR Add more layers or increase quest mob item drops/ open world mob exp by 10-40%.
Forum people who post daily don’t play SoM and comment specifically to ruin the game for people who play it.

I know the term Mastery might be difficult for you to grasp. It is Season of Mastery, not Season of Casuals need to be included because it hurts their feelings.

I know the idea to hit the max level for expansion is hard for you to grasp you lvl 64 gnome.
It is season of mastery, not season of leveling like crab. Gnomes like you with hurt feeling about the idea of having a decent game for the 1000s of people playing the game, need to go away.
The whole point of season of mastery is harder raiding. You can literally level 1-60 with no exp buffs whenever you want on the live classic servers.
Your the exact person I am referencing in my post.
That’s why I decided against playing. I just didn’t have the time to put in, the leveling didn’t seem faster really. Then add in the grinding etc; and I lost all interest.
Maybe next time they’ll change it up again. Plus, no RP-PVP server. Cheers to everyone who likes it. I’m not going to hate on it.

12 hours a week? Jesus, yea maybe this game isn’t for you man. Sorry I don’t want the levelling to be any faster. I like the process of levelling to an extent and it wouldn’t feel good if it was any faster.

You folks have played this game over and over and over again after almost 20 years, and you still somehow find the time to cry about everything. Put that energy into leveling, amigo.

Leveling was fine I got to 21 on my warrior and priest multiboxing. I stopped because it’s too soon and realized I won’t have fun playing a game I just beat 8 months ago even with new mechanics to bosses in mc. It’s still MC and the trash and listening to someone in discord repeating loot the dogs over and over.
I plan on doing a soul of iron character for the fun of it.

This casual with a busy life is loving Season of Mastery and is opposed to any more experience gains. You don’t need to be fully BiS equipped to enjoy the game! You don’t need to speed run every raid! You don’t even need to raid or rank up in PvP! Stop trying to selfishly change the game because you are impatient!

I’m already level 31 and only played like 4-5 hours each day since launch. Exp is fine.

I think it’s important to keep in mind that SoM feels very experimental, and that’s a good thing! I don’t think Blizzard has all the answers here, and it’s unreasonable to expect them to have it. Nobody really knows what the sweet spot is… so they just threw 40% quest/group xp bonus on there and we’ll see how it goes.
We’re seeing a few holes in this already… as you pointed out, it’s not that much faster, but we’re also seeing that it’s fast enough that you can quite easily outpace your gold gains and not have enough money for training.
Keep communicating the pain points as they come up and hopefully Blizzard tweaks these things in future seasons!

It’s never a good idea to mold a game towards the casual players. That’s how you end up with very dead retail.

12 hours a week means you may as well not even play. Do something else with your time.
It makes the early and worst levels significantly faster so you get your full skill set sooner. Means it is probably more than 15% faster for people who know what they are doing.
100% agree with OP. The layer issue is also a big pain. On Shadowstrike, its impossible to tag mobs. I spend more time fighting over respawns than actually questing. They need to ramp up layering big time.

If you can’t make it to 60 in a week you most likely wont ever make it past MC/Ony. Buffing quest xp isn’t going to carry you to T2 and beyond so there is no point in crying over it.
You couldn’t be more wrong. 12 hours a week is more than enough to get plenty of enjoyment out of the game.
And 60 in under a week?! Sweat much?

End game isn’t the only content. They can do whatever they want.
