SoM 2, Flex raids?

you two are trying to rewrite history :expressionless: SoM was always about being a fresh vanilla classic season with minor changes. if you turn it into retail 2.0, what are the people who want fresh vanilla seasonal supposed to do? they’ll be quitting, and so will most of the people who try your frankenstein game.

That’s not what it’s been about at all, how is harder raids a QoL change?

call it whatever you want. it’s a minor change that was supposed to address the fact that most people felt the raids were too easy. what it didn’t do was disrupt the feeling of classic, which getting rid of 40 man raids certainly would.

and no, i don’t want 40 man raids to be optional. i want them REQUIRED. you can learn to live with it, as vanilla classic players have done for years. if you’re missing some people, invite pugs. it’s not difficult.

And almost every server died before the season reached completion, that’s indicative: people are looking for something more than just doing the same classic experience with just a few ‘minor’ changes. That’s what Era servers are for, that’s what ‘Classic Fresh’ will be for - should they ever release it.

This is Seasonal, and it needs to be different from the other iterations of the game - so much so that it maintains the interest and engagement from players through the entire life cycle.

You can’t learn to live with it when there are not enough players to fill the teams… This would essentially mean learning to live with not playing lol.

The post came from an Oceanic perspective (Which I’ve already mentioned but i think you may have ignored) where there was not enough players to fill a team. This makes the game unplayable. The ideas posted in this thread were to try and add something positive so we can all continue enjoying the thing we love. You refuse to understand that this is both not about you and only suggestions raised by players who want to enjoy the game like you assume you do?

No changes is classic era. I also love playing the game in it’s vanilla state. Sadly that means only playing with a US ping now but that’s okay. SoM has the opportunity (following the original plan) to make changes to this for the better. Changing the raid setups somehow so that lower pop server like oceanic ones can still enjoy the content. None of us are saying we know the answer to this. But at least we’re coming to the table with ideas rather then just turning up like a troll and shutting everyone down. Please don’t pretend it’s not be a troll effort because have a good read off your previous posts lol.

Either way i appreciate your continued posts as it’s giving me something to do on a slow work morning <3.

If you are going to state that others are “trying to rewrite history”, why don’t you post what Blizzard actually said about this past season: Season of Mastery.

That was the Season of Mastery design intention.
But seasonal doesn’t play out the same each time and shouldn’t. The next season, should there be one, will probably have a differing experience.

A priest that doesn’t know how Fade works probably shouldn’t be making declarations about how Blizzard’s take on seasonal servers in Wow Classic will work either.

You’re never going to have that, because the people that want changes, will never be happy. It’ll always be more and more changes. I’ve already seen posts about adding modern graphics to classic. If that doesn’t scream “one-way ticket to retail “, I don’t know what does. And it’s crazy that you guys keep pushing the same agenda, and not realizing where it is headed long-term.

I am also an oceanic player, I strongly believe 25 man raiding would’ve saved our region.

I’m glad there’s folk that play OCE servers that are speaking up in advance.
It was awful to see the breakdown during SoM and the requests that were daily posted for assistance to keep people in your region playing in that region.

Blizzard, if you are reading, please try to be a bit more nimble when responding to requests for seasonal. It’s sped up and treating it with the “oh let’s wait and see” attitude means collapse happens that much more rapidly. Seeing the OCE community abandon their server/s just to be able to play isn’t really representing your core value of emphasis on community.

 from TX to OCE folk

Lad, we’ve made a single suggestion to fix a noted issue. No one’s asking for it to become retail. I can appreciate you looking forward the 30 steps to try and future proof classic (You must be a gun at chess). But none of us want to change classic era servers. If SoM was suppose to be classic era, it would be called classic era. The server list page distinctly says “Seasonal” on one tab and “Classic era” on the other. They are different, they should be different and if SoM in 6 seasons ends up being retail, then ill stop playing it too. But until then, if changes aren’t made to a new season of SoM IF it even happens. Then the servers will die, again, like they did on the first season.

We don’t want retail, We don’t want to change classic era servers from being vanilla, We want classic with changes so that everyone can enjoy themselves.

I feel like 40 person raids are quite a defining factor of Vanilla content.

Also, as a side note, after playing through WoW Classic, I’m surprised they never brought them back.

Honestly, i agree. It would be sad to see them go if it was the fix. But honestly, we don’t have much choice short of Oceanic players just straight missing out. Which would be a rather sad fix.

Absolutely agree, pushing through BRM with 40 guildies is a feeling like no other - especially clearing the content after the amount of coordination and organisation it takes. But unfortunately, I feel there needs to be some sort of accessibility change for players on lower pop realms/regions.

I worry for seasonal that Blizz will interpret that request as less servers rolled out at launch leaving some without the option they want ie only PVP (or PVE) available.

And layering the **** out of them, further nuking the sense of the world.

Bro if you’re not going to have a meaningful contribution, please go outside.

@Asma - absolutely, that concerns me too. I really hope that’s not the avenue they take.

If you don’t have 40 people on your server, then they’ll probably do what they did in SoM and allow free transfers. Frankly bringing a loaded term like “accessibility” into a discussion about 40 man Vanilla raids, imo is kind of toxic.

I think you misunderstand what I’m saying, I’m not trying to bring a loaded term into this conversation at all. But the fact of the matter is, we’re talking about lower pop realms/regions having access to content and not being left out to dry.

It’s not about having 40 people on a server, it’s about having and maintaining 40 active people to raid with, within your guild. I’m not sure if you’ve run a guild before (not a dig) but the turn over is usually pretty high. You might have a solid core of members, but I would argue that having 40 committed players from phase 1 through to server completion is an absolute rarity.

And regarding the transfers, they’re actually what killed the server in the end. Blizzard offered transfers off of the low population server - yeah, it was low pop, but it was absolutely still manageable (3-4 major raiding guilds + casuals). But when they offered transfers off, people kind of panicked and jumped ship to play on the US high pop server. Obviously everyone’s entitled to do what they want, my point isn’t as basic as “Wah wah, you left me” - it’s just an observation and a suggestion that transfers from a low population server shouldn’t be the planned solution. I’m hoping that Blizzard look at alternative solutions from a gameplay perspective before just taking the server out behind the shed - or worse - not having an Oceanic server at all.

It’s quite possible!

Yep! Gotta always be recruiting, that’s for sure.

I’m not a pro-transfer sort of person by any means, and we all experienced what happened over the past 3+ years. However, perhaps for SoM2 they’ll just bring out 1 server, since that’s about the population SoM supported… we’ll see I guess :woman_shrugging:

If Oceanic players being combined with US players is going to be a net negative for US players, then I’d much rather not have them at all.

They can play on Taiwanese servers if there aren’t enough of them to support a server of their own in Australia, imo.
