<Solved> The Infamous Right Click Bug

I have a bug that was introduced with TBC regarding mouse input, where right-clicking in the game world will not “stick” on the first try after using my mouse on my 2nd monitor. This same bug will also prevent me from using my mousewheel at times while holding down right click.

I’ve been troubleshooting this problem for 2-3 weeks now:

-I have disabled all addons.
-I have used /fstack to check for invisible frames.
-I have ensured there are no other programs adding overlays to the game.
-I have tried rawmouseinput on and off
-I have tried default mouse polling rate.
-I have tried disabling/enabling “acceleration”
-I have searched extensively on google

Here are my google searching results:

This problem is common and has been around for a long time, many people have had it, posted about, and there are even some supposed ‘fixes’ out there that seem to work for some but definitely not all. Some find it only happens with logitech mice, but others have found it with razors, etc. This problem generally manifests itself with the launch of a new xpack.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Solved!

This bug is related to mouse software, specifically logitech software in my case, and multiple per game profiles. Removing my mouse software fixed this issue. I introduced this bug by creating mutliple profiles for wow in my mouse software. The fix, for me, was to reinstall my mouse software and use only 1, default, profile. I believe that the mouse software is momentarily interupting the mouse contol to load the game profile every time I switch from my 2nd monintor back to the game.

I removed all mouse software. This did not fix my issue. I really am out of options at this point. I’ve tried dozens of combinations and NOTHING fixed my issue. I’ve played this game since Vanilla and today’s the first time this has ever happened to me.

I was supposed to run keys and had to sit out. I was supposed to be playing WOW with friends for New Year’s Eve and couldn’t play at all. Feels extremely frustrating right now.

I did no software installs prior to this issue starting, so no clue what magically triggered this to occur.

  • Deleted addons
  • Installing Logitech mouse driver software
  • Uninstalling Logitech mouse driver software
  • Uninstalled all HID-compliant mouse options from OS (bricked my mouse completely at that point; thankfully removing/reinserting mouse USB cable reactivated it)
  • Trying with a basic Amazon mouse with only two buttons
  • Turning off hardware acceleration in BNet Launcher
  • Turning on hardware acceleration in BNet Launcher
  • Quitting BNet Launcher
  • Turning off Overwolf/WarcraftLogs
  • Uninstalling Overwolf/WarcraftLogs
  • Disabling Discord
  • Uninstalling Discord
  • Turning off Corsair’s iQue RGB software
  • Reinstalled Nvidia graphics drivers

Update: Just realized this is in the Classic forums for whatever reason. Will post in Retail where this is happening to me.
