Solved: 11.2 Campaign Skip Broken on ALL my alts (accepted the skip option while in a raid group)

I initially submitted a ticket about this and got an automated response giving me the general information and steps to activate the campaign skip on alts, but I have done all the required steps.

This is a different issue. When I first activated the initial quest (A Shadowy Invitation) in Dornogal on my alt, the NPC who walks over to create the portal to K’aresh bugged out and was not able to summon the portal (maybe because I was in a RAID GROUP at the time). So I stood there waiting for him to open it for a long time and eventually tried talking to Alleria, who was standing next to him, still in Dornogal. She had the campaign skip option available. The guide to skipping the campaign says that the skip shouldn’t be available until I accept the next quest “Restoring Operational Efficiency” in K’aresh. I wasn’t even in K’aresh yet when I was offered the skip. After I clicked it, nothing happened. At this point I realized I was in a raid group. I abandoned the initial quest in Dornogal and left the raid group. I reaccepted it and the portal properly spawned. When I went to K’aresh and accepted “Restoring Operational Efficiency”, the skip was not offered (this is the moment where it is supposed to be offered to you).

Even though I have completed everything necessary to unlock it on my main, and Alleria previously offered it to me in Dornogal when the first quest in Dornogal was still bugged out due to me being in a raid group.

After this all happened, I tried using the skip on multiple other characters and it is now not being offered on ANY of them. It seems that somehow when I tried to activate the skip while in Dornogal and in a raid group, it bugged out and broke my ability to access the skip on ALL characters on my account.

This issue is not the same as the typical person who just didn’t progress the campaign far enough on their main or accidentally completed “Restoring Operational Efficiency” and missed the option for the skip.

Sorry for the long and wordy description but I really wanted to be extra clear on exactly what the sequence of events was and also very clear that I have not gone past the point of initially accepting “Restoring Operational Efficiency” on any of my alts, yet I am not offered the skip, despite it clearly being unlocked because Alleria tried to offer it to me in Dornogal when the NPC was bugged out and not summoning the portal to K’aresh due to me being in a raid party at the time.

Please help me as I have a great many characters at level 80 and I don’t have the time to spend doing 3 hours of questing on ALL of them just to get the cloak due to a bug which was not my fault.

Thank you for your time and for making this excellent game. Its very understandable that a bug like this make it though testing as it’s very specific but it’s definitely a bug and it has broken access to a feature for my entire account.

The 2nd response from GM Hialiphos told me to submit a bug report and post here on the forums about this issue, so that’s what I’m doing.

I 'm having the same issue. My pally alt accidently went to Karesh in War Mode so I went back to Donorgol to turn it off without accepting the skip since there were alot of enemies player around the npc. After turning off the war mode, i came back but the skip were no longer available not only for my pally but also all remaining alts. It sucks.

Seens like a pretty big issue with the way the skip is coded. Really hoping they can fix this cuz I don’t have time to run 10+ alts through the campaign just to be able to raid…

I’m an altoholic so this is awful for me

I read somewhere someone got the skip to work on alts when finish all the available campaign story on their main and not just what we got up to last week.

Appreciate the response, I’ll try it I guess. But I have no desire to do the campaign beyond what is supposed to be required. I can’t stand questing and the amount required for unlocking the cloak in the first place was about 3x too long. I just want to get my characters into M+ and raid but I can’t because the cloak is like 5-6% of my damage in keys, is very high ilevel, and other cloaks don’t even drop at all anyway.

Not to even mention that you literally can’t even do the raid without it…

I don’t do world content unless it’s required for my character power. I only do group PVE 90% M+, and I maintain 3 characters that I push to 3k+ on each season so now I’m stuck with only 1 and I can’t break the monotony of casting Arcane ________ over and over. (Every single Arcane spell starts with the word Arcane…).

Oh thank god, I am not the only one who is experiencing this issue. No skip for my alts anymore is horrible.

I didn’t even get to use it a single time. It was my very first alt that I tried to get the cloak on that caused it to become broken. I’m not certain if the raid group was the problem or if it was talking to Alleria and activating the skip from her while still in Dornogal (while the guy walks over to create the portal to K’aresh). She’s not supposed to be the NPC who offers you the skip and the dialog she gives you to offer it is different than the screenshots I’ve seen of the other NPC in K’aresh who actually gives it to you for real.

So it almost seems like maybe she’s not even supposed to have that dialog option. Maybe it was a holdover from a previous iteration of the skip that was implemented on the PTR or something?

Also an update. I have now completed the whole campaign other than the final step of killing Dimensius on my main, so that suggestion Huntenei said above about progressing further in the campaign did not help.

I’m really disappointed at Blizzard’s lack of effort in trying to help me with this issue. No response to this post, which I only created due to being directly told to do so in the response I got from GM Hialiphos. They said in the response to make a post here and that unfortunately they can’t give me a timeline right now of when to expect a fix. They also acknowledged that I’ve been playing for nearly 20 years. Clearly I’ve given a lot of money to this company and it’s really upsetting to have such a critical thing broken and little to no action to fix it or compensate me somehow.

I’m getting very close to just quitting for the rest of the expansion (I never play the Fated/Awakened seasons). Without the ability to play anything other than my Mage this season unless I do a huge grind on up to 10 characters, I’m just becoming really disillusioned with the game. I’m not a one character guy. I play lots of alts and usually have 3ish toons that I get to a decent M+ score each season around. I’ll usually have 1 that gets to 3300ish and 2 more at or slightly above 3000, and AOTC and maybe a few Mythic raid kills strewn in somewhere.

Really hoping that I hear something from Blizz soon but I’m pretty worried because so few others are having this issue so it probably won’t be a priority to fix.

Same here.

It worked for me on new alts that didnt have the cloak. Is it possible you advanced to far? The skip is before the first quest you accept in the new zone.

Solved:

The issue was that I had not completed the entire quest chain of the phase diving intro quests. Since they are not marked as campaign quests (they should be, considering how mandatory they are), I had not completed that full chain, I’d only taken the breadcrumb quest that took me from The Oasis over to Hashim.

I think this could be made more obvious for players by making it part of the campaign instead of an “optional” side quest. Blizz has spent this entire expansion teaching us that the “purple triangle” quests are not mandatory. Often they involve delves or other open world content that, until now, has not left you missing out on any major character power or game features if you don’t engage with them. As someone who has no interest in most world content or delve content, I have gotten used to ignoring most of the purple triangle quests beyond the initial breadcrumb quest for each.

Still can’t explain what the deal is with Alleria’s “skip” dialog option in Dornogal while waiting for Locus-Walker to make the portal to K’aresh though, but it appears to have not been part of the issue, nor was the fact that I was in a Raid group.

Next time you put an absolutely mandatory item in the game and create a skip to quickly unlock it for alts, Blizz please make ALL required parts of unlocking the skip Campaign Quests not “Purple Triangle” quests to avoid this happening in the future. Not all of us care to engage in open world content.
