I’m no game designer and this thought will have holes regarding server gold transfer but I’m sure we can figure it out.
This idea is only for m+, since you have a weekly lockout from gear.(this has been pointed out as wrong, I’m sorry) But it could be a lockout from trading this way weekly in general.
If you trade a group member, and they put the dungeon item into the trade window, you should be able to give (lets do 2k total gold, for the sake of discussion) and only accept if the item goes with it, regardless of server. This way the enchanter gets what they deserve, but also helps the guy; maybe with an extra small tip for not just disenchanting it to save time.
If your argument against this is that farmers will transfer gold this way, is 2kish gold per item locked for a week and the time spent in the dungeon a big deal? let’s be real.
Welcome to be told how bad this idea is, just a thought after the mixed opinion on it being toxic to DE vs entitlement.
Go.
Easier solution. It’s your gear, so do what you want with it.
If you are worried about what people might say, don’t loot it and get it out of your mailbox later.

“Hey there’s brutosaur on this dead servers BMAH, let’s go do a dungeon and pay me gold cap for a loot”

Or just discuss the terms beforehand. See if people are OK with trading off duplicate ilvl gear. If not, and you’re looking for a group that does this, then leave and find a new one.
Alternatively, join an armor-stacking group. This is generally an unspoken rule for those.

I’m very conflicted about this subject.
On the one hand that person did win the loot. It’s their loot to DE. On the other hand it sucks to be going through a bad luck spell then to see loot getting DE’d in front of your face rubs salt in the wound.

This is to solve the issue in a good way for everyone involved.
i dont like these kinds of restricted solutions that force players into a specific arrangement. i think ppl having a negative experience every once in a while isnt a bad thing and not everyone should be forced on the happy train only tracks
let ppl create their own stories, maybe someone wants to be a bad guy sometimes
It doesn’t solve a things.
Can you imagine running a raid or high M+ , and lets say a ring drops. You’re going to have a bidding war between everybody for that item . Also, it’s going to add another hour of game time to complete the dungeon. Why? Because only half the people actually pay attention, then once the item is traded “for gold” you have three other people crying about how they never had a shot to bid for it.
Yeah no.
if you’ve never accepted loot from a pug, its not toxic to DE your own loot. but if you have ever accepted loot from a pug, it is most def toxic.
2k total gold, meaning you can only give a total of 2kish for the item. Some of you just love to be negative.
Enchanters need mats, dude.
And sometimes you need to make a point.

Yes. What goes around comes around.
I mean its a good idea, but maybe just allow purple enchanting mats to be traded instead? When traded they become BOP so the enchanter cant sell them. Then no funds are being moved around servers then, cause I am sure someone will find a way to exploit that.
The enchanter gets their enchanting mat to craft with, the other player gets a nice upgrade. People who want to do this just need to buy some normal purple enchanting shards to trade with. I’d start to carry purple enchanting shards with me if this was a thing.
If enchanters are doing runs to sell the materials themselves, then simply don’t loot the bosses (no one can see your loot to ask for you for it), all drops show up in your mailbox.

Good thoughts, thank you for actually taking part and trying to solve things.

What if the person who won the gear is a healer and you have a large repair bill due to their “healing” in the content? Maybe they should give me 2K and the gear.
You guys are free to revise the idea and make it better. In no way did I say this was bulletproof.
Enchanting mats should just drop from bosses or nodes like things, or mobs like every other profession material and not be tied to loot at all.

Yeah that’s gonna be a big no from me.
In theory I see where you are going…
But it will actually make things worse.
If the issue is people not willing to trade gear for whatever reason.
Giving them the option to charge gold for it will only make things worse.
Now absolutely no one will trade gear unless you pay for it.
Get right in their face and look at them in the eye then disenchant it.
