Challenging solo content has always been difficulty for blizzard to balance so I’m guessing this is where grouping comes into play so you can still do it in some way.
I am kinda inclined to agree just because we already have an entire system for small group content (Mythic+)… and really, the big pitch for Delves was: “Solo Progression.”
It would also make nonsense like what happened yesterday much less likely - they can focus on this being a reasonable solo exercise and not have to worry about also balancing around 2-4 players.
I agree, but when they are having complete issues making it balanced for BOTH group and Solo play without one affecting the other.
It reminds me of when blizzard was for the longest time trying to figure out how to fix pve/pvp geear issues in pvp and when we for years told them to scale up pvp gear in bgs, it took them what, till shadowlands to figure it out?
Or when they were struggling to make 10 and 25 man equally challenging.
Delves should be balanced around solo first and foremost imo.
Exactly.
It stank of Mythic+ers trying to turn Delves into Mythic++.
We already have 5 man content for gearing… we already have 10 man and greater content for gearing…
What we haven’t had is good solo methods for gearing… you got your Mythic+, you got your Raids… let solo players have their thing.
A case could be made for 2-man/pairs content… best friends, husband/wife… but parties of 5? No thanks, defeats the whole purpose!
Yeah they should have just been solo in the first place. Tune around that.
I grouped when I played Torghast just to fill up my weeklies. But I did enjoy Torghast as Solo. Delves should not be different.
On Vision, you could also group up. But my experience of grouping on Vision was bad becoz I grouped up with noobs on several occassions. All they did was die and wasting my life saving ability. So I ended up Soloing Visions to its max level.
There’s no issue… group play was unbalanced… they fixed that.
Solo play was fine before the hotfix… it still is now.
If anyone is complaining about solo balance it’s either:
A) they are trying to clear tiers designed for i600+ gear while wearing i530 gear…
or
B) its a skill issue and they were used to being carried by a group for years.
Exactly all this
What is an MMO? What do you think is the single, prominent design pillar that sets the genre apart from other genres is? Just curious.
Hard disagree.
Someone that is 590-595 should be able to solo 8s to justify getting the upgrade. Running an 8 for a 603 piece when at or above is nonsense.
Skill issue is possible, however, certain classes are obviously easier to solo with than others. Hence why Bran should be more useful in regards to solo play.
Because it (was) a much faster way to get that gear than M0. People were planning to do this already when most people were saving all of their keys for the release of the higher delve levels past 3. What people didn’t know was (1) how hard M0 actually was going to be and (2) how easy group delves were going to be (before the changes). That’s why so many people were focused on delves earlier this week … it became the META for M+ prep gearing because of how much people dislike M0.
To be fair MMO means many people online in the same gaming world .
Doesn’t mean you actually have to interact and play with them but you can if you want to .
There are other activities in the game aside from killing monsters in a dungeon with others. Just because they want to run a dungeon alone, doesn’t mean they cant participate in the other social aspects of the game like trade, crafting, rp, talking in public channels.
Caping delves to a single person while they work out the issues might be a good idea.
The problem is that they never marketed it as solo only. They marketed it as something solo or small groups can do, like 2-3. I think making delves solo would be bad for those people who have a small friend group, like one or two people, and want to do content just with them. Like delves were marketed as.
I think solo players should just turn the difficulty to what they can reasonably do.
Brann already carries at level 38.
I could accept this with the small change of reducing the size not removing it entirely. 1 to 2 players at the very least. I feel like it would be bad form to just remove content from couples or close friends that enjoy playing the game together. Perhaps 3 if possible without making tuning too difficult. But 1 to 2 players shouldn’t be an impossible difference to tune around.
They effectively did this, in all but name, by the change. Basically it’s been “turned off” for groups.
I would really hate capping it at less than it is. I like running them solo and i like having the option to jump into one with a friend or two and not worry about class and spec.
I know thay some classes are super easy and multiple people trivialize it but I really dont want them cutting out the no pressure flex group.
Maybe give brann a tanky mode or taunt curio?
