Solution to the consorship

Yeah, well screw them. We’re the ones paying money to play this game, not them. Well, I’m not paying anymore. But you get my point.

Internal ones that actually make a difference for their employees. They may be making these changes, but the changes we’ve heard about - in this case, the censorship - only undermine what they may be doing. If I were an employee, I’d be insulted by it.

Reading what I type may help.

I’m not upset about the changes themselves. I’m frustrated with why they’re doing it - largely for their crumbling public image and to grab any good will they can - and that instead of making demonstrable changes to the game that can bring players back they’re spending their time alienating more.

This may shock you, but most people like off-color humor and don’t see the appeal in getting rid of it to please a certain type of person whom history has shown to be hyper thin skinned and unpleasable.

Like polling internally to see if there’s anything in game they can change to make their employees happy and then implementing those changes? The fact of the matter is we don’t get to see what Blizzard does in house, and have no way of knowing what changes they’re making internally.

They’re making massive sweeping changes to game systems in 9.1.5. Is that not enough of a starting point?

Also how are you being alienated against because they removed a few voice lines and changed a painting and a couple of emotes.

They should keep their personal feelings about politics out of the game.

It’s an RPG that has been marketed to customers, not a painting board for their therapy sessions.

Gonna need a source on that one chief.

No, because they do this song and dance every expansion when the subs start to get low. If they want to demonstrate an actual change in attitude, an apology for everything from WoD onwards would be the bare minimum. And then reversing these moronic censorship decisions because they’re putting the PLAYER first for once.

I think the people who have been sexually harassed should receive justice. But that doesn’t give the WoW team as a whole a free pass for how awful and spiteful they’ve been towards the playerbase for years now. If you have even one iota of empathy for the people making this game at this point then you’re a sucker. Plain and simple.

Take a look at any mainstream movie or TV show. The sterilized hyper woke drivel that comes out tends to crash and burn while off color stuff tends to make bank. Seems like you’re in an internet bubble. Considering going out and touching some grass. Maybe talk to people face to face for awhile.

Legion is highly regarded as one of the best expansions in the games history. Why would they need to apologize for that? As far as WOD and BFA go, they can apologize I guess but what good would it do? They’re over.

They have an unlimited supply of free passes because it’s their game.

Why are you still playing the game? It sounds like you completely disagree with blizzard in pretty much all regards.

Can you provide a couple of examples?

You realize that you are the one crying about minor changes in a video game, yeah? You get that right?

Punishing the employees involved in bullying and harassing others. Re-evaluating contracts and giving workers better pay and benefits.

Completely gutting the borrowed power systems and focusing on making good, fun, compelling content rather than grinds and MAU-style content would be better than trying to fix the broken systems they were warned about in beta. Building on design rather than scrapping and recycling it next expansion to keep people learning things over again and grinding from the start every time.

It’s alienating people that don’t like the old game being changed with little reason, or those that always liked the humour aspect of the game, or those that don’t like the excuses Blizzard is making.

What alienates a player is up to them, not you.

For me personally the biggest drawcard to wow is nostalgia, its like a home away from home type deal. I love being able to just jump on wow and immerse myself in familiar content, humour and patterns. The removal of a lot of gags and humor just feels jarring.

I agree its extremely minor in scope but its false to say it does not affect the game at all.

These changes are not ruining the game, the are just degrading it ever so slightly. I think they are symbolic of how bllizzard is designing the game they want to make, rather than a great game fans will enjoy. They have taken the customer out of their design. Its the exact same rationale of shadowlands development, “as devs we know better than players”.

I am Australian, I am in a government mandated lock down, up until very recently I was not allowed outside more than an hour a day. Oct 11th I am free and am soooo taking this advise (a few months in lockdown could probably explain why I am so cranky).

Not how it works when they’re trying to sell a product. They have exactly zero free passes.

I’m not. After this month’s sub runs out. I’m done with WoW permanently until a complete change in culture happens at the WoW team.

Family Guy, Simpsons, Rick and Morty, the entirety of Anime and Manga, even Marvel Movies and Star Wars have moments more questionable than the stuff being censored here.

Typical woke argument. Act like anyone who doesn’t agree with you is mentally unhinged when well adjusted people recognize that purging any and all innuendo is something only incredibly fragile people feel the need to do. The fact is, these devs wouldn’t be able to function in any company if the stuff they’re removing is enough to make them feel “unnaccepted in their work place.”

A lot of those people have already left the company. How is Blizzard supposed to punish Ghostcrawler, who is now an employee of Riot? Also, again, we don’t know what’s happening internally. How do you know this isn’t already happening?

How do you define borrowed power? One could argue that tier sets were borrowed power. The problem isn’t borrowed power, it’s the implementation. Artifacts were pretty dang good.

You have a couple of ways to deal with this. From what I understand, these changes are only happening on retail. Go play classic if you want to experience the game in a bubble with zero changes. That’s the point of classic anyways.

If it really is so unbearable, you can go find a new game.

Trust me, most people are. Blizzard is p!ssing away their last chance to right WoW on these nonsense changes. Most of their influencers have jumped ship, and now the long time casual players who stick around due to nostalgia are getting burned big time by an out of touch dev team full of Californian danger hairs. It’s over for WoW. It’ll take years for it to shut down fully, but it’ll never have the relevance or prestige it once did.

If they wanted to change wow into a MLP game tomorrow they totally could. It wouldn’t be a wise business decision, but they can absolutely make that change if they wanted it.

You’re leaving because of a culture change and will only return if they change cultures again? What change in culture are you looking for?

Yikes lmao

That ship sailed like a decade ago bro. The entire MMO genre is less popular than it was in the 90’s early 00’s.

The shoe fits. Deny it all you want, but the devs whining on twitter that the players hate these changes fit the billing to a t.

Looking forward to 9.2 when they design more content for… themselves. Good thing Shadowlands is in a good state, or I’d say their priorities are skewed.

Lol. Seriously, you can tell that these devs grew up in the participation prize generation with their justifications for this garbage. “We aren’t doing it for you our paying customers. We’re doing it for ourselves.” It honestly explains a lot when it comes to how bad the game is if this is their attitude towards the people paying their paychecks.
