Solution to poor vault RNG?

Lately, my vault rewards have been disappointing—mainly duplicate Tier pieces or Items of lower IL in my embellished slot. I’d like to propose a solution: let players choose the armor or weapon type for each vault slot.

For example, if I clear heroic and complete four Mythic+12s, my vault will offer three Hero track items and two Myth track items. If I don’t need boots, belts, or chest pieces, I could set my first Mythic slot to target gloves and my second to target rings—my current “chase” items. For the Heroic slots, I might choose weapon, trinket, and wrists—less urgent, but still useful for maybe rolling tertiary stats or sockets or a sidegrade.

This system would reduce redundant drops in vault that just downright suck, while still preserving RNG within selected slots and not just handing you Bis.

Reintroduce bonus roll tokens and ditch the vault.

unfortunately i don’t think this will ever happen. too many people think rng is an important part of both “having fun” and “gittin gud”

That just sounds like more RNG? I vividly remember bonus rolling and still getting gold.

Yes but the vault is also just RNG. With bonus roll tokens you can just spend your rolls on certain bosses and at least have some sort of control over what you receive.

Here is the solution…
Put some effort into the development and programming of the platform. It is not difficult to resolve these issues tbh.

I bet a 10000g I get more trinkets that are garbage and I can’t use and more versatility items that are total garbage that I can’t use from the vault tomorrow.

If they want the Dinar system to be a real “bad luck protection” thing going forward, the obvious solution should be that taking the 6 tokens would also reward you a Dinar whenever you do, or failing that make a Dinar purchasable with the tokens, although I feel that route still makes it sting when you’d be behind 3 weeks and don’t even get pity sockets for it just to save up for one item.

I have always liked the idea of having slot “targets” though, since even if you set the target to something like trinkets, you just as easy could get really bad trinkets, but at least you don’t end up with slots that are drastically behind because you just never find anything higher.

I just want to earn a currency for playing so I can buy the gear I want off a vendor.

I think RNG is a fun part of the game - for dungeon loot. Bosses drop things.and I either get them or I don’t.

So, give me some tokens each time I finish content, and let me take that to a vendor in town. The vendor can even have different gear. That BIS trinket can stay exclusively a drop from a boss.

Cap how much I can earn in a week, lock waves of gear behind progress or Renown - I don’t care. Just bring the Badge Vendor back. The Vault sucks.

Make it so you can use 12-18 vault tokens to buy any item out of the pool of content you completed that week, just like the Puzzling Cartel Chip.

You can “bonus roll” with up to 9 choices in the vault, or you can “bonus roll” at end-of-run with just that dungeon’s loot table (or that boss’ loot table). I guess with a raid boss you can kind of target your “chase items,” but bonus rolls absolutely were inferior for M+.

They let us use Titan Residuum currency to buy a specific slot (or for 3x the cost a specific piece) in BFA, but apparently that was “too generous,” so while I support your idea I think it has a snowball’s chance in Hell of being considered by the current dev team.

There’s not much difference between rolling at end-of-run and getting gold and the vault rolling random slots and none of them are useful (so once piece is vendored for… gold).

Crafting is the solution. You will never EVER be able to choose a slot to drop.

An option to reroll the entire vault that costs coins or reduces the number of choices you get would be nice, and far more likely to happen. Even for that, don’t hold your breath.

The solution is for Blizzard to really less on super grindy RNG. That has always been one of the biggest issues for them. They can’t resist cranking it up to get tons of play out of as little content as possible.

The solution is to no longer pray to the RNGesus and worship Lootcifer instead.

All hail Lootcifer.

As you get better gear the probability of getting an upgrade from the vault by pure chance goes down.

It’s important to keep this fact in mind and temper your expectations accordingly.

The current denar system requires 3 tokens to purchase something, and even though it would be a long wait, if you could choose 1 token from the vault every week instead of gear, you could then purchase whatever you wanted after three “failure” weeks. This would qualify, in my view, as “bad luck protection,” without awarding large amounts of loot on the regular.

Make it like the Dinar system, so every vault slot reward gives you 1 token, gives you two if you upgrade the slot once, or 3 for a fully upgraded slot and then have a vendor that sells Champion and Heroic level raid items for the tokens.

Champion gear is so abundant now it might as well get a full outfit mailed to everyone on week 6 of a patch. Full Hero outfit on week 12.

True, but people would have a fit if “casuals” got better than Hero gear from the Vault.

Buy a Switch 2 and play something that actually gives you rewards for putting in effort cause all this game is is a massive time wasting slot machine. It’s not a symptom. It’s a feature.

None. It’s RNG. It’s the luck of the draw. And it used to be ONE item. What else do you want? A one button does it all? Wait… anyways… play the game.
