The chest at the end of a M+ run should NOT time out and disappear. Seems like a pretty obvious solution to me.
If you were to get anything, it goes to your mailbox in that situation.
Nothing lost
Exactly. I’m not sure where the issue lies. I went through a whole instance today and didn’t loot for fear of being stuck. Got all my goodies in the mail.
Ran three dungeons yesterday, game froze after the last boss, never got anything in the mail. Out my gilded crests and valorstones. Happened to two people in all three runs.
Thata because the game was bugged at that time.
Thus the maintenance. Back to normal now
Yes, but should this ever happen in the future (and something like it will) then the solution would be as I suggested. Then if there is a bug, at least a person will still get their hard-earned currency and gear.
The solution is already in place. You dont have to loot to get the rewards
The bug specifically dealt with the loot in general
Right. Clearly there needs to be a different way to handle the loot if I didn’t get it. There is NO reason for the chest to time out at the end of the dungeon that quickly.
Are you unaware of what “bugs” are? Its when things arent working properly
I know exactly what bugs are. What is infuriating is that I’ve been told to file a bug report and that I’m basically out any of the rewards I would have gotten from those dungeons last night. It seems to me that, instead of automatically granting loot upon the completion of the dungeon, that your rewards should remain in the chest until you have a chance to loot it yourself. That way, if there is a bug preventing you from looting anything, then at least you can go back later after the bug is fixed and still get your stuff.
It’s hard to tell the exact way that the bug worked, but the server thought that you had looted it yourself. If it hadn’t despawned, you still wouldn’t have been able to loot the items that bugged out.
Yeah, that would cause more issues. Good luck getting back into instanced content once youve left it because the game bugged out or disconnected and spit you out
The game was borked. It affected everyone playing at the time. It happens.
Dont like it, dont play live service games
Easy. Just have a “lost and found” chest in the hub cities where you can go and get whatever you would have gotten from that dungeon if you didn’t get it. There is clearly database record of my completion of the dungeon, the key level, the time it was completed in, the quantity of crests and valor stones I had before the dungeon. This is all a matter of record. If the specific loot identifiers assigned to my character’s node in the database bugged and prevented me from getting them, then server-side should be able to assign replacements.
That’s a poor excuse and NOT in any way helpful.
Or…it can just mail it to you like it does now.
If it doesnt mail it to you, its not going to end up in a lost and found chest because the game doesnt recognize you getting anything. Thats the rub.
Its realism unlike your “bugs should never happen and every dev needs to be able to forsee every bug and have a solution in place for the unforeseeable”
Bugs absolutely can happen, but part of a fix should be solutioning ways to ensure that if a character did not get loot when they should have that:
A) the database can recognize that it has occurred, that there is a mismatch in the tables, and
B) a way to either unbug the loot or provide replacements.
The solution should never be a shrug and a “that’s just how it is” and instructions to file a bug they are already aware of.
If the game was flat busted yesterday. How would any fix like that prevent it?
Because a one time bug happened that lasted less than 24 hours out of 20 years?
I dont think you understand just how much work it would take to verify everything from everyone and backtrack.
Not to mention, with all the disconnects, the database isnt recognizing anything
Yes, the game was busted yesterday, and yes, bugs happen. But when they do, there should be systems in place to fix the fallout.
I’m not asking for every bug to be prevented. I’m asking for a safety net for when they happen.
I honestly think this is not too much to ask.
There is. It’s called a hotfix. Usually the same day. Sometimes the next morning, like what happened today.
It’s not, but you are asking for something that already exists.
Not at all. The fix you’re talking about is fixing the bug. The fix I’m talking about is the repercussions from the bug.
If a bad coffee maker suddenly stops making coffee, you don’t tell your customer: “Sorry, the coffee you ordered can’t be made because of a bug. Guess you’re not getting your coffee now.”
The solution is: “We’re replacing the bad coffee machine, and you can come back in for a free coffee when we have the replacement, sorry for the trouble.”
