Solution for M+ Leavers

Let people enter on-going m+ dungeons. Someone new zoning in a dungeon they didn’t start in depletes any remaining time. Then when someone leaves your dungeon, you replace them and keep going.

I think people would rather start over than have the filler instadeplete the key

Why? I would much rather finish a partially completed run and end with a -1 key than not finish the run and still end up with the same -1 key.

But would your group stick with you for it, and would anyone fill knowing your group left and you’re auto-depleting?

Being the first to leave a mythic plus dungeon prior to the timer expiring or the final boss being killed should get a debuff similar to deserter and prevent them from getting a chest that week.

The people who would rather start over may also leave and be replaced. I just want to finish the dungeon for the specific loot I’m targeting or to complete my one +15 for the week.

This would 100% be exploited by people trying to sell loot/gear friends. Clear to last boss, kick people, invite customers/guildmates/etc and down the boss and collect the loot.

So then the timer’s failed, which is what people are generally annoyed about. Most people can 4 man a m+ if someone leaves, it’s just that chances are they won’t time it if they have to do so.

There’s a penalty for leaving norm and heroic dungeons. Always thought it was silly to not have on in place for mythics…

some variation of this is the right solution.

1 time leaving = 1/4 your chest gone
2 times leaving = 3/4 you chest gone
3 times leaving = you can’t do any more M+ for the week

something like that imo^^^ that way if you legit dc then you get a slap on a wrist. multiple dc’s and you should consider fixing your internet before depleting someones key

A large portion of the community believes there is no point to continue a dungeon if they can’t time it. I don’t want to trap those people in my group from fear of leaving penalties. They might try to circumvent the penalties rather than participating (afk at entrance). I’d rather them leave the group so I can find someone who actually wants to be there.

Leaving itself really does need a penalty

Your bad network is not other players responsibility, they should not put up with lack of penalties on bad players just because your net isn’t in order

Maybe they’re going for IO score now
I have no gear left to gain in M+

The real solution is not to implement punishments in order to prevent people form leaving, a much better approach is to mitigate the impact of having someone leaving (currently it ruins your key and reverts the progress you had already made), so I think the OP was on the right track but the idea has a few issues.

I think that a better way would be to simply make keys that are below the weekly maximum for your cache to not regress when failed, make it so they remain at the same level or at least give them 2-3 attempts before regressing. If needed also make it so you can’t get loot twice from that same key (which resets upon upgrading/downgrading it).

Yeah! How dare people leave fail groups that have 50+ deaths after the 2nd boss and going on hour 2!

Moreover, all good players should be forced to carry bad players, or blizzard will seize their account.

Making keys less scarce would be a big improvement. That way leavers are only wasting my time and not my key. Then we could avoid the exploitative behavior Spreckle pointed out.

I say that if someone is the first to leave an M+ run more than 10 times a season, they should get perma banned and have their account deleted.

Too much? Okay. They shouldn’t be allowed to do M+ on any character until the next season.

You don’t stamp out this anti-group behavior by giving the key holder 3 more chances to play through the toxic leaver lottery. This is just going make a bad community experience even worse.

There need to be punishments. This content is small group content that can be ruined by someone playing only for themselves. You don’t build strong communities with the m+ system in place as it is. The person who is clearly not participating in group content needs to be put in time out.

That seems steep.

But a 24 hour deserter debuff or 6 hour debuff could work.

problem is, there is already a system in place to prevent people getting kicked on last boss. a completed key give credit to the group regardless if they are present for the final kill. they still get a share of the loot too, goes to the mail box.
