It’s not about less choice per-say.
Solo Q is a pretty good idea when you think about just wanting to play to play…
…but then you factor in all the variables that make it horrible.
While solo Q is great for the players who are geared, its awful for those who are not…
While Solo Q is great for Ret and Feral, its awful for Warriors and Hunters…
etc…
- Increase conquest points gained - great idea
- Revamp Arena rewards and brackets - great idea
- Introduce a new LFG interface - great idea
- Introduce a 6v6 Solo Q RBGS - great idea
Implement a solo q arena… not so much…

In essence this sort of highlights how I feel about it. I do a TON of skirms every day, and it’s entirely common to get a 31k HP DPS, sometimes two. While this doesn’t bother me, in fact, I enjoy the challenge it presents–if it were tied to me having a rating I would find it annoying.
I think solo q only works in a game with templates, personally.

The way to make solo queue work should not be hard. Just make it to where people can queue into ranked arenas by themselves, and give some kind of basic filtering UI for classes that you want to play with. If you liked the people you just played with, cool, give a pop up like on skirmishes where people can choose to queue again or not.

If you want faster queues, leave your criteria super wide open. If you’re more concerned about the group comp you’re playing with, be okay with longer queue times.

It gets way worse then that though. You load in see this but that teemo also has -5000 gold at the start (Hello gear mattering).
Teemo also will brb 5 min has to run to the store during the starting room

No one said it has to be arena, but I like the idea of a 6 v 6.
That is a great analogy for your posting strategy on these forums…
To all the “But it would split the player base”
- Most people who want solo queue already quit so they would be re-subscribing, adding to the player base.
- If your favorite version of the game has a smaller player base that is because less people want to do it… And when you force people to play a version of the game they don’t like they will eventually quit anyway.
As a casual pvper who plays for the elite set, mount, and fun each season, yes please give us solo queue!
Given how much boosting is going on, I’d also suggest giving the losing team some measure of conquest in rated play, based on both gear and mmr disparity. It’d work similar to how rating loss is mitigated when facing teams that are higher than you and give you a bit of conquest when facing tough teams.
