Is there any way to solo Viscidus as a Mage right now? I can freeze him no problem, but all the daggers have the same speed now and the potions don’t give you enough speed to be able to do enough melee hits in time. Plus the toys and trinkets suggested on Wowhead no longer hit him. They just miss or don’t attack. It’d be REALLY nice if we could since as a Mage we need his drop to finish the quest. I know it can drop from another boss but it’s a drastically lower drop rate, and the drop can’t be traded even in a party.
Equip the crate of puppies trinket then pop it when he freezes, win.
I thought they’d fixed this, though admittedly I haven’t been to AQ for a long time. If not, then it seems silly that 18 years later this isnt a raid you can solo without resorting to gimmicks. Presumably there are other classes that cant do this either.
To be fair it always was a gimmick fight even when it was current. The gimmick was by design, but still a gimmick.
But yeah, legacy raid bosses with intentionally gimmicky mechanics (looking at you, Spine of Deathwing) should be made more solo friendly at this point.
Tried that, it didn’t work.
I haven’t had an issue on my mage - I use the, Heirloom dagger, Time Warp (Take Temporal Warp for the double), freeze him and and then just stab. Stay in melee range when freezing him so you’re not wasting time you could spend meleeing.
Worked every time I did it.
Thank you! The Heirloom Dagger plus the Temporal Warp did the trick! Stupid that we have to do it that way but I"'m glad there is a way.
Ok this is bothering me. What quest? Google is no help, everything I see online only discusses HOW to kill him, not why, or what quest requires it. Please and thank you.
I believe the quest for the AQ armor sets. Each class has one and you need pieces from specific bosses to unlock it. It’s really basic stuff though, personally I’ve never once used it as a mog.
You do not have to kill him for any quest. He can drop part of the pieces you need for said quests, but that loot is shared by several bosses.
Yes. If I recall you can get all five pieces in a single lockout (rep permitting) if you can kill Viscidus. If you can’t, you just have to come back next week.
If i remember correctly i just used hero +a rly quick dagger and then it worked ^^
