I usually just solo and do the story, WQ, et. I do dungeons as needed. I stick with LFR. Don’t have much time to do much else now days. Going back and forth between playing my fury war, havoc dh or ret paladin. Question is, what spec do ya’ll play ret paladin as just doing normal things. Would you go with the raid or mythic+ spec ?
For open world content, M+ build.
The ST build is only good in sustained ST scenarios.
Yeah for open world and pugging you really should just stay in your mythic/aoe build. My ST build is solely raid exclusive.
One nuance with playing as Ret in the open-world is that you should use CSAA w/ no Vanguard of Justice vs. TS + Vanguard of Justice. With the former you can Judgment at range → BoJ → spender which will handle most open world mobs (so TS has less value), and the potential of downtime with the CSAA build isn’t an issue since you have it going from mob to mob anyways for recharging Judgment and BoJ.
Ret Paladin can also pull a large number of normal mobs tank-style and burst them down faster than a tank if using Shield of Vengeance or Divine Shield, since every skill you have does a 5 target cleave. Judgment itself is probably the best pulling tool in the game for the open world now, surprisingly.
agreed on judgement being one of the best. It’s so good it unintentionally pulls from across the room.
I do M+ aoe build to help keep the rotation in my muscle memory.
