Soloing Imonar issue

Can you nerf the time or remove sleep canisters completely from the fight. It is impossible to solo for classes that have no cleanse. ty

Even with a cleanse, most can’t use it while asleep

The canisters just shouldn’t cast when it’s only 1 player

So bring more players? Just because you can go in and solo most bosses doesn’t mean Blizzard should strip any mechanics off the ones you can’t.

Blizzard will most likely make a change to the boss in shadowlands, since legion is still considered “non-legacy content” as it is content that is not 11 levels or below us. Reason for legacy loot mode is active was simply because of the whole covid19 thing.

And yet they did when it came to bosses like Spine of Deathwing (extending the time before deathwing rolls to 10 seconds instead of 5) and Galakras (making it so you can transition into phase 2 with only 1 cannon).

In fact there are some bosses that don’t do mechanics that would otherwise cause a boss to reset if you are solo as you may need to go into a different “phase” or something. An example of this was Thorim which would do an instant 1 shot mechanic if no-one was in the arena at all times. Hell, with Thorim he doesn’t do that anymore period. Another example was Gorefiend. If you were solo, he would reset when killed you, since he had no targets to attack. And getting killed was part of the encounter (see Shadow of Death, an instant 1 shot after 5 seconds) since your first death* in the encounter would send you to his belly. However go in there when solo now, and Gorefiend no longer does it.

iirc there used to be a Draenic CC removal potion that was commonly used for Wind Lord Mel’jarak amber removal in HoF.

Not sure if it’s relevant or not but probably worth a look-in.

There may be no change necessary once the legacy buff is added in SL. It’s already soloable with enough damage to push phase.

The roll extension didn’t eliminate the mechanic. The change to Galakras is the type of change that Blizzard has stated they are open to making. It was impossible to complete solo, regardless of damage so it was adjusted. They have repeatedly said that they don’t make changes that can be overcome with by applying more damage, which is the case for Imonar.

This is another mechanic that had no solution for a solo player.

I don’t believe Gorefiend used this ability on his aggro target, which meant that it wasn’t adjusted for soloing; it was simply operating the way it always worked.

Ultimately, the legacy loot was added as a courtesy, and was added with the specific caveat that the bosses themselves weren’t being touched and the legacy buff wasn’t being added ahead of schedule. If there are bosses that people can’t solo right now the correct answer is bring more people or wait until SL. Anything that can’t be reasonably solo’d with the legacy buff will almost certainly get adjusted.

No he did. He even used it on tanks at certain parts of the fight.

The legacy damage buff only really seems noticeable for older raids. I can barely notice it for WoD raids atm.

There was kind of. The 1 shot mechanic had a soft timer on it. So you could bait it by running into the hallway, quickly run back to the arena, wait for it to go past (it was a giant ball of death) and then quickly run through the hallway up to Thorim to trigger phase 2 before it spawned again.

The one downside to this sort of “wait till” tends to be that Blizzard usually reacts well after the fact to actually make changes. See Hellfire Assault (or even Gorefiend), which took many patches for them to finally realise that something needed to change to generally allow every class to solo it. The legacy damage buff is also dependent on level difference, so usually near-negligent for the latest raid it affects. It’s also going to be a bit harder to judge how level squish is going to change the normal power level adjustments of a new expac (slightly different to previous item squishes).

Highlighting problematic encounters WELL in advance might be relevant to getting them to make changes in a reasonable timeframe. TBH, these adjustments should be implemented/testable in Beta, and anything less than that is just sloppy game design.

That said, I don’t think Imonar will need adjustment - the threshold should be fine to allow people to meet it at level 60. It’s not like Eonar or anything.

As others have pointed out, Blizzard doesn’t try and expressly make raids soloable until two expansions after they were current.

This is not quite true either. They specifically intervened to make Eonar skippable.
