Soloing help

I am trying to gear up my Druid so I can comfortably go into healing. I am level 120 and my current ilvl is 303 and I want to get it to at least the minimum 350s. I’m playing as balance for the dps but collecting Healing-centric gear.

My problem is I’m dying so much it’s frustrating and essentially unplayable by myself. To put it bluntly: I’m not good at soloing as a Druid and just need some pointers or resources to check out.

If anyone has any resources, tips, or just some sort of starting off point it would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

"Regardless of what you are doing, you NEED to unlock:

World Quests
Nazjatar for Essences
The Cloak for gear and Corruption management

Azerite will come easily, at this stage of the expac. Once you open Nazjatar, your neck gets boosted to 50 soon after, and you need only 1000 AP per level for a long time, while an Azerite Emissary will give you 3K. Let it come, but don’t focus on it.

At your stage, it’s very likely that World Quests will be a good if limited source of guaranteed gear for a few days. Keep an eye on them, and an Emissary for a weapon is currently up, that you should take advantage of.

If your main got Rank 3 Essences, your alt can get them from the 8.3 content, buy them from MOTHER, but it’s fairly slow.

The fastest way to upgrade your gear from 390 is Mythic dungeons and M+, if you are into that.

I can’t remember exactly what Ny’alotha LFR requires to queue. I have a vague impression it’s around 410. It drops 430. By all means, do it to collect the essence currency as soon as you can enter, but it is not a great source of gear."

Thanks! I have unlocked world quests and Nazjatar. I got my neck boosted to level 50. But what I am afraid of is getting the cloak because of all the grinding (which leads me back to my problem).

I tried the first Assault in Uldum (Aqir Unearthed) and died three times and not even at 10% of the stupid quest completed.

When I can isolate one mob at a time, do ok. But when it’s two or three, as is usually the case, I am toast. That’s the frustrating portion.

We all die every day, even at higher item levels. Don’t overthink it.

Also, some trash (in many zones) is really tough. You’ll learn from experience where your escape routes are. Cleanse yourself often from the accumulating corruption stacks in Uldum and Vale, and run away for a Shadowmeld where needed.

PS - Try the zone in question at different times since you might like it better when it is more populated. As other Alliance are taking down trash and bosses, you can throw a moonfire here and there and a cleanse for folks, etc. You get credit for all of that; even when not grouped. Then, just keep picking up the loot.

That’ll stop as your ilevel goes up, so just keep checking dailies and emissaries for upgrades, and unlock the content Cafe mentioned.
All my gear is from those and I can get through quests I need without switching specs by just using Balance Affinity. Other than that just use your utility- flight form for collecting, prowl to bypass trash, and toss heals out when doing world quests just to make some friends.

1st thing I’d suggest, gear wise, is check out all the WQs on both continents & hit the ones that will make for quick gear upgrades. Especially the Turtle quests that don’t involve combat, they usually are good for a couple rings/trinkets. Then I’d hit up Nazjatar & use them pearls to get some quick Epics, 5 pearls a piece. Emissary gear rewards will start scaling up with your I-lvl at certain points, to 445 I think.

As for playing balance solo, I main balance, I like to use Treants & Fury of Elune on multi-mob pulls. Dot em up, get them in one spot, hit Treants, Fury, & then nuke. Once your I-lvl is high enough you’ll be tanky enough to handle getting hit & spamming Owlkin Frenzy procs too. If you get overwhelmed, Typhoon, reset, & try again.

I remember when I 1st hit 120 I would go Guardian spec sometimes because some mobs were tearing me up like some weird scaling issue happened from 119-120. But as my I-lvl went up, that reversed.

Do the bonus objectives and hover around rares til folks show up for the invasions rather than slog killing stuff.

303 is a really low item level. I suggest maybe hitting AH to fill in spots(dmf trinket) and getting assistance for mecha for the punchcard trinket. Not the greatest items but not terrible to start with.

Thanks everyone. I’ll focus on getting the non-combat gear and what not. Fingers crossed!!

Reiterating what Nadirah said, but 303 ilvl (at the time at least, you’ve gone up a bit) is really low. That cannot be understated. Doing a quick round of world quests that drop gear will almost always be an item level upgrade, so look around for those when they’re available.

You can also try joining a group that are doing the Nzoth invasions. That can alleviate some of the issues when trying to fight mobs. In addition, all the invasion zones have some interactable objectives that give ~1%. So it’s doable without having to fight mobs and is easy since we have flight form, but will take significantly longer.
