Was this a thing? What classes could NOT do it, what gear level is recommended to do it?
Read on the internet (So it must be true) that the devilsaur leather is worth a lot in Classic.
My L60 hunter in quest blues and greens could solo all but the biggest one.

Did non-pet classes stand a chance? Like say, a mage or warrior?
Warrior probably could. You could sheep a Devilsaur but that’s not going to help you kill it. I do remember them being somewhat difficult to kite as a mage, in Un’goro. More to do with the area than the devilsaur though.
I suppose everyone but warrior can solo them ( or , very-well geared warrior).
low 50’s for the usual solo champion ( hunters).

I can’t imagine a situation where they could solo without extremely good gear.
Yeah, though don’t they scale the best with gear? I was thinking more of a geared warrior when I said that.
Can devilsaurs be slowed/frozen? If so I guess that settles it for mage, but iunno.
All classes can do it with good gear and CDs

Oh man I had completely forgotten about devilsaurs till I saw this thread, so many little things coming back to me now.
Anyways, I could solo them on my druid by abusing hibernate and roots, but i wouldnt call it easy.
i wonder how a shaman would do with them…
pre raid is fine. just use evasion and your other cooldowns… blind and bandage.
I plan to be a mage 'till later, then I might funnel some gold & time into either a rogue or warrior.
I could solo them on a warlock in not special pre-raid gear in vanilla. I remember some rogue being mad at me when I was there.
I was killing them as early as 55 on my druid, but that was more because that’s when I got to Un’goro. could’ve probably started at 53 or so, though it’d be more risky.

Mages, Hunters, Rogues could for sure. Remember Devilsaurs arent level 60, they are like mid to low level 50’s. Not a problem for most classes at max level. Its all the proxy aggro thats annoying. All those level 50 aggro lizards and crap that add on you.
In mid 50s everyone can with not terrible gear.
Don’t think it’ll be big deal this time. MC can be done in greens, no point to waste resources on crafted blues.
I soloed them as a warlock too. Any skinners following me around Un’Goro had a happy day. I think the contention for them really ramped up after I had moved on.
My wife soloed them as a standard geared beastmaster. Sold enough to get the epic mount.
Imma half T2 geared priest on Holy Crit build and i was able to handle 2 at the same time with my shield, fear, HoT, Dmg Burst. My level 47 friend is skinning them and we’re keeping em until we can wear devilsaur kit at 53 and 55.
I could solo them on my Druid in quest greens/blues when I first hit 60, but it was a challenge. I found it easier to gank someone else that killed it and steal their skin and run away, hehehehhe.
