Soloing Azuregos in Azshara?

Back in vanilla, a hunter soloed Azuregos in Azshara. He stacked +healing gear and managed to pull it off. Hunter’s challenge?

citation need, i am going to purposely google lazy:O)

I think I heard of that, but I think the Pallies got the first World Boss solo kill.

I was wrong, I thought it was in vanilla, but it was a BC hunter that stacked +spellpower and +healing gear. Never mind

Paladin superiority confirmed!!!

For the sake of discussion like say mend pet scaled with +healing in Classic, if you were left uncontested for that long at Azuregos to be able to get the kill you deserve it. Or the guilds on your server are absolutely pathetic and too disorganized to get world bosses.

Our guild on Light’s Hope always had at least one person watching Azuregos and Kazzak spawns, then later one at each nightmare dragon spawn. The SECOND that boss spawned a guild message was spammed, Discord was spammed, and we even had a group texting app of 100+ people from various guilds in our coalition. We would have 40 people on and summoned in the span of 10 minutes tops (usually much shorter) and the boss would be dead within moments of spawning.

It was 2007 TBC

Mend Pet DOES scale but it’s channeled in Classic (also pets are MUCH weaker than in TBC). In TBC it was a HoT, that they later nerfed the scaling of because that.

Ah. My apologies, I don’t play braindead classes so I had no idea when mend pet changed. I am aware it is a channel in Vanilla though.

Only real hunter changes I can pinpoint were their class revision in Vanilla (1.7) and when their deadzone was removed making them have a lot less counterplay (2.3).

Wow, discord years before it was invented. Either that or you are talking about private servers which no one cares about

Until you’re getting absolutely trashed in Classic by guilds using these tactics and I have to deal with the constant forum threads of “WHY CAN’T WORLD BOSSES BE LIKE RETAIL?! THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!”

The only things that will change are numbers. Tactics will not. BGs will play the private server meta, as will world bosses.

Azurgos takes 15-20 people in pre-raid bis to kill. The better guilds back in vanilla would have hunters watching the spawn and just kite him away before anyone else showed up.

Oh boy are you in for a world of hurt. I will take great pleasure in crushing that ignorance induced bliss from your trampled corpse. You haven’t figured out yet we know how to deal with hunters doing that crap, as well as the fact the hunter themselves needs to know how to dip in to avoid resetting the boss by attacking it due to how leashing works, as well as dipping out of the range limit to avoid getting threat wiped themselves. While people are pulling the giants that do a thunderclap on top of them to daze the hunter.

Some of the hunters spells scale off of spellpower and I believe mend pets does scale off of spellpower and not the +healing. I know the spellpower hunters were a thing in Vanilla because I tried it back then for the laughs of doing some pretty high arcane shots.

Had to wear a dress though.

Well, when you’re crying your eyes out because you’ll never have the chance at seeing the loot tables of those bosses firsthand, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Do you honestly think over the past 10 years we didn’t adapt and overcome as the warfare surrounding world bosses got more demanding? We know the best spots to tank the boss in to prevent being wipes, we know the best scouting locations as well as summon areas. We all have level 20 warlocks parked to summon each other.

Until the people like you who have next to zero understanding of what they’re up against acclimate (and I promise most of you won’t even begin to come close to the level of dedication and underhandedness required to be on par with us) you’re bringing sticks and spears to a fight against people with automatic rifles.

You know you can be banned for that last part right? Private server rules dont apply.

Banned for employing a countermeasure to being griefed? Lol no. That only existed on PvE servers where you could be banned for level one bombing Kazzak to grief guilds and kiting Azuregos to resets.

You’ll never see anyone banned for thunderclapping a hunter kiting Azuregos. Promise you. If anything the hunter is more likely to face the ban.

You’re at a 10, bring it down to a 2, please. You need to consider that theres going to be more than 1 server. While you and your mega guild might control one of them theres going to be others wherw this isnt the case.
As for the thunderclapping the hunter, im pretty sure intentionally training other players to kill them is a no-no. All the hunter did was tag a mob, y’all are trying to kill him for tagging it.
Lastly, your analogy…the problem with it is that its not uncommon for more advanced nations to lose. Rome lost to the german tribes (sacked rome) and the celts (why they built hadrian’s wall). The US lost to Vietnam, USSR lost to Afghanistan. Don’t let your confidence become arrogance, it’ll bite you in the end.

It’ll still be unchanging. Whichever guild is willing to put in more dedication to securing the kill will get it. Even among all the servers this was the case in 2005. There wasn’t a single server that had guilds go “Ah well we got it last time, let’s let someone else have their turn!” It was always whichever guild was more dedicated to securing the kill be that by bruteforce or underhanded tactics got it.

Too bad that scenario goes out the window when you realize it’s a hotly contested mob with lots of desired loot BY DESIGN. If they’re kiting a level 38 panther, yeah you probably could face action. If they’re kiting a world boss, Blizzard understood in the past and will understand now. In fact they’re so big on encouraging competition they openly acknowledged that layering would have to be gone by the time world bosses rolled out.

Didn’t miss a world boss yet to some ragtag guild of trash. Only time I’ve ever lost a world boss was to the Progress coalition on Light’s Hope and they lost bosses to us, usually resulting in either which team organized quicker. There was a period where the Horde as a faction just did not even try for four months because they knew it was either going to Sanctum, or Progress.

But hey. This is more of the “lol private server players are bad, us retail players will show them!” rhetoric that made WoW’s 10 year anniversary Molten Core wipefests so memorable to me.

I would say see you there but I can’t look far enough down the foodchain to even notice your presence.

Thank god i did those with a pair of friends, one to decurse the other to tranq shot and me to tank. Literally had to carry 37 human vegetables through the whole damn thing. Thankfully with the exception of the curses we could ignore most mechanics. That was both rage inducing and hilarious at the same time.

Heh, you wouldnt roll on my server anyway. Not that i intend to raid at any rate. My work schedule and my anxiety will see to that. I’ll just be happy getting my welfare gear from BG reps.

However, you are still missing the point of what i was trying to say. Just because youre top dog on LH doesnt mean that you’ll keep the crown when classic goes live. You are talking as if we should all be asking for your blessing and begging for your wisdom. Thay kind of arrogance can inspire quite the resistance. Its not like you guys have some secret weapon to kill the world bosses here. Its literally just communication and a summoning crew. Not that hard to replicate.
