The game mode relies on healers to function more than anything else and no one wants to heal because it’s not fun.
Classes do too much damage, everyone has too many mobility buttons and interrupts and micro CCs, and dampening starts way too high otherwise matches would just take too long.
It’s a cute game mode, def a nice arcade version of WoW with no strings attached to LFG but just be prepared to wait 30-50 min from here on out for queues because no one wants to waste their time healing randoms in RNG 3s.
Honestly true, and I’d love to be proven wrong but I dont see how the current format will ever be able to fix healer issues and its just going to get worse as more people abandon it. DPS will get tired of sitting the ques, healers will get tired of randoms and lack of agency.
Me personally I do one game a week just to be able to upgrade my gear for PvE reasons. 2100 is enough for me especially as mythic raid gear will start to be better.
They should of focused on PvP Island Expeditions for Rated play instead of Solo. Has so much more to offer as a PvP platform for competitive play. Just need the maps to be smaller and a few adjustments.
Technically they could have PvP Island Expeditions be the true Solo shuffler and your team is NPCs. Oh well.

I mean you could but they aren’t wrong either. There is a reason why Blizz never did Solo shuffle and it was Ion himself that said it can’t work in this type of game. Since the game heavily relies on bring the class not the player. It’s about team comp.
So they are trying it cause it was heavily requested however they shouldn’t of done it. Solo shuffle doesn’t work for this game, it will never really work. Would be better if they focus on Brawls of better PvP platforms for competitive play like 6v6 Brawls. Etc…
Except there are a ton of people that have proven that is wrong. There are a lot of players that are playing non meta specs that would otherwise not be able to find groups or comps and finding success.
I consistently struggle to find 3s teams past 1500 every season as ret. I almost always stick to 2s because of the barrier to entry of finding comps with competent players at lower ratings. If I play for long enough to get geared I tend to get around 2k-2.2k in 2s sometimes 3s and then it just becomes nearly impossible for ret to push past 2200 as double dps in 2s.
Even at my peak shuffle rating of 2513 I think I was like top 5 ret paladins in shuffle. I tried to find teams in LFG to prove a point. I was consistently turned down by 1600 rated groups because they didn’t want a ret paladin. I would demolish a 1600 rated lobby lol.
In shuffle. I’ve been able to play with tons of 3k players, rank 1s, streamers, AWC pros, and I’ve had a lot of people whisper me after shuffles. Wanting to run 3s, complimenting me, or telling me I’m insane. To be fair I’ve also had a lot of people whisper me to tell me how bad I am hahaha. So this mode was made for people like me, and there are a lot of people like me.
There really aren’t a lot of people like you though.
Most people play meta, they can easily bounce between shuffle and LFG arenas.
In shuffle the queues take forever, you can literally go the whole day and play only like 4-5 shuffles if you have the whole day off with how long and inconsistent queue times are.
This isn’t realistic or sustainable and outside of major class balancing to make healers more palatable which won’t happen, the game mode is destined to just be a meme arcade for vault drop and nothing more.
I like shuffle too, but it relies too much on healers queuing when its not a fun experience to heal randoms.
I think most people are in the same boat of they want to do more in 3s but finding a good 3s comp is kind hard when the only people you can get to sign up have never been past 1400 and they’re playing the most off meta thing is it only adds to the difficulty.
I understand healers frustration. When they heal for 3 million more than the other healer because they landed cc, had better positioning, and cycled their cds better but they still lost because the warlock was able to heal for 4 million to close the gap they feel like they had no impact on the map.
Just need to remove the excessive self healing in the game. Convert it to damage reduction or whatever other defensive people have. Let healers heal, and it gives them a large amount of autonomy over the game. If the game goes past the opener then the healer with the highest number at the end will likely be the winner. Just like now that the dps with the highest number at the end is likely the winner.
That would be a step in the right direction but imo the access that most DPS has to various interrupts/CC/Mobility is what makes casters in general horrible for Shuffle.
I went from playing purely melee to trying out casters are I started to realize how miserable it is to have to hard cast anything, especially against good players who know how to utilize every tool they have.
I tried healer as well and quit after like 3 or 4 shuffles because at a certain point it was too frustrating to keep up with everyone at a certain point of dampening, but it also was incredibly frustrating to 3-3 every round because a single bad DPS player will just keep you stuck while they can climb out.
Is that fun though? In my experience as a ret paladin. It is frustrating being trained every game, but there is nothing more infuriating than being spam cc’d, and unable to participate in the match. At least when I’m being targeted I get to push buttons. When I’m sitting slows, snares, stuns, polys, fears the entire game and I’m just waiting to play while I watch my team dies I want to log off.
If healers aren’t ever targets, they eat every cc and they don’t get to play the game.
What do you imagine the alternative to be? So long as healer activity has such a disproportionate impact on the match they’re going to be the target of one of those two things. The only way that will ever change is if the healing role becomes less impactful.
Realistically the only future where healers aren’t the train or CC target is one where healers don’t actually exist in PvP. A future where the games are effectively all DPS, with some just being a bit more support-focused. I would be all for it personally, and the game would eventually end up in a better place in all likelihood, but it would take ages and a lot of pain to get to that point. Would also mean people who want to play healing in specific would be out of work.
