It appears that entering a portal (within Emerald Nightmare raid) at the same time as your solo shuffle queue popping counts as if you quit the arena match without giving you a deserter debuff.
My screen showed my character enter the arena, and then teleported me back to the Emerald Nightmare. I lost 150 rating, but did not receive a deserter debuf.
