Solo Shuffle "Auto Target"

Caster classes are becoming insufferable to play. In Solo Shuffle my current experience as a caster player is.

  1. I am the only caster in almost every game

  2. I am getting auto targeted by multiple melee, and melee seem to have a pretty impressive kit these days while my casters still have the same escapes for multiple expansions.

Am I just not high enough to face casters, or is everyone switching off to play melee in DF.

“opinion” It’s okay for classes to die. I think classes need to be redesigned to die again. A lot has changed in this game and I think the biggest change is how survivability has increased to a substantial level compared to early expansions. Not a huge fan of every class being a Tank / Healer in DPS spec. Except Paladins. Wow are paladins in a rough spot right now :'c.

Perhaps, what rating are ya playing at? I’d say it’s very rare for me to have an all melee lobby. Casters are pretty prevalent.

I definitely don’t think every spec is super tanky. Things definitely die. With that said, which caster are you laying exactly?

the majority of my games are double wizard
with triple wizard being much more common than triple melee

most often being destro/demo/bm
but lots of ele/sp/boomkin/frost and arc mages

best thing you can do is try REALLY hard against the horde of awful melee below like 2200 then it’ll feel a lot better once you’re out

i’m sorry that you got a little bit higher than that but are now 1400 with 1000 games played

point was that you’re stuck in cr hell where op is currently so you’d have no idea if it got better or not anyways
your post was pointless

Don’t bother remi. Not worth it lol.

It quite literally does get better if you climb out. If you can’t limb out, then it won’t get better. But, that doesn’t change the fact that it would.

I mean at the end of the day, casters are strong and it’s shown/proven that at higher ratings they’re more prevalent. The rest is just irrelevant debate dribble.

I’m not trying to be mean but I’m geniunely interested in the hole in brains type thinking this suggests because a lot of people think like this.

I think we can all agree that the average human is not good at things.

Like the mile run time of the average human is embarrassingly bad I would imagine if I Google it.

The average wow pvper is incredibly untalented. Which is ok btw if this is an insult to you I think some time away from the computer would be highly beneficial**

But why does that matter? Oh idk because someone who plays the game at ratings that suggest they’re aware of what proper gameplay looks like said something and you disagree by saying

Well I’m bad just like the average.

I wouldn’t ask someone that walks halfway through the mile for running tips they don’t know anything and yeah those people are the majority.

What competition is the low performing average ever the standard? I mean western society has gotten pretty brain rot but really?

Bit unrelated OP but hijacking with a question / Just a thought but how much of this “caster is unplayable.” “caster is unsufferable.” is more readily explained as just a giant wave of maybe experienced casters but until now inexperienced arena players just now coming to realize how different being a caster in arena is vs, say, a battleground.

For example, before I started trying to do arena in wrath on my alt mage, I loved playing my mage (2008). I never lost duels. I could 1v3 and 1v4 in bgs. I fake casted, knew my way around a fight, I thought. I felt like a good player. Trying arena though, hardstuck 1700 on my mage & warlock until I practiced and learned and reprogrammed my common sense. Couldn’t adjust to people intentionally and relentlessly targeting me, training me, & with the support of their team, staying on me. Which was different from the chaos of random bgs where basically a frost nova would save me from anything with two legs.

This was especially true moving into 3s from 2s. Which is another thing I think might be happening. A lot of 2s players who couldn’t find partners / never bothered with 3s getting dumped into rss.

I’m not saying casters don’t have it bad right now, they pretty surely do with the mobility game it’s just not a pleasant fun experience for them regardless of how strong they are. I just am wondering about the relative experience of people who don’t like being a caster in arena currently.

I guess what I’m thinking is this is the only outlook worth having. Like stick with it.

It’s just a problem of on the low end of performance melee dominates casters to a point of the low performing caster being actually unable to play.

For the entirety of MMORPG pvp with exceptions of certain melee being overtuned being melee is an inherent weakness. Casters in general are better at higher end of performance.

Which is why casters whining about melee is so dang annoying because it’s for sure a git gud scenario

I never thought about this but I bet it’s true. Likely just being overwhelmed.

You definitely go for the throat but, I can’t deny what you say is facts :stuck_out_tongue:

yeah definitely this I’m just trying to explore where their denial is coming from.

Glad everyone is having good conversations in here.

I actually decided to just stop playing caster until this issue seems to be fixed for normal players. I do not claim to be a pro and I am not interested in climbing to 2k rating to finally face 1 caster. I played 10 games 2/22/23 and every game was full melee at a rating of 1200. I lost every single one so it doesn’t feel good.

But melee really does seem to be almost cheating at this point. “exception of paladins” There are so many interrupts and so many gap closers and now with abilities like Spear on warrior trapping you in 1 spot I just really can’t deal with such an unfair advantage.

On my caster I am stuck to a rotation or close to one.

On melee I am noticing these people macro their cooldowns to just blow them all, and its usually an instant death for me. Zero rotation

I really don’t think this is healthy for the game.

On a side note, almost every caster I know has gone to melee which is 7 people. Every single one of our RBG players is a DK, Warrior, DH, or Druid now. it is kind of uncanny.

I mean when the avg player tries to play every melee like havoc and every caster like bfa destro it’s clear how things are going to play out

Not really sure how casters could be be further simplified without making mid-high mmr unplayable

This.

Only this.

At 1.4K, ya it’s all melee down here. It’s about as high as you can go on zug alone.

Any melee playing above 1600 is playing uphill. (Rogues don’t count here, stealth gives them a free out of being melee)
