My rogue is just an alt, but is my only engineer and have been playing it since classic. So im just curious, for lvling in TWW which spec do you enjoy the most?
Sub because it makes the best use of limited energy.
I did Fatebound, Sinister Strike Outlaw.
It was pretty easy. Being shoved into Fatebound for the extra combo point for Sinister Strike still sucks, but you can still pretend to have Hero Talents outside of that.
I can throw my hat in the ring here and say Deathstalker Assassin is pretty fun for me.
Always have SnD up, Cut to the Case passive makes this super simple.
When talking about an āOpenerā your goal is to have your target afflicted with Garrote, Rupture, and Deathstalkers Mark. How it varies depends on how many combo points you currently have.
Things die quickly enough that you donāt need to worry too much about specific ability buffs like Systemic Failure.
If you have no CP opening: Garrote, Ambush (to 5+ CP) Rupture.
If you have 2-3 CP: Ambush, Garrote if under 5 CP, Rupture if at 5+ CP.
If you have 4 CP: Garrote, Rupture, Ambush.
If you have 5+ CP: Rupture, Garrote, Ambush.
Donāt worry about using SnD at max CP, Envenom will keep it up for you.
If you want to multi-pull (easy to handle 3 mobs) make sure you grab Caustic Spatter, Indescriminate Carnage, and Arterial Precision (plus Improved Shiv, Lightweight Shiv, and Tiny Toxic Blade).
Poison Bomb chance is horrible but is still a good option to get you into Indiscriminate Carnage.
I usually donāt bother with Crimson Tempest unless you are doing Dungeons when mobs live longer.
For elites or rares, use your Deathmark after you have your bleeds up (Garrote and Rupture) and try to let them run as long as you can before reapplying.
Also, would suggest grabbing Atrophic Poison in place of using Crippling. Slows are for PvP and really are no benefit to PvE.
I do not claim to be an expert but here is my build I have been using for just open world content and have had no issues at all with survive or downtime.

Deathstalk assassination was very easy. Very strong AOE potential. Outlaw is out damaged by random mobs sooo.
Itās not that bad. Even for Trickster Outlaws.
Deathstalker Sub has been a breeze for me thus far. So much damage.
this is a lie. i am almost always pulling 1m dps on every pack in every dungeon. It will only get higher when M0 and M+ are launched. hit spikes of over 2.4m at times as well.
Outlaw seems pretty good so far. Bit early to say for sure butā¦
Not sure how Trickster/HO is doing but KiR/FB is clapping once you get the haste up.
Sub is an excellent solo spec.
Rogueās greatest asset in solo play is stealth and the what are called āopenersā. These are abilities you can only use from stealth. Unsurprisingly, they are very powerful but limited by the requirement that they be used from stealth. The problem is that there is no way to use stealth in the middle of combat without dropping aggro and resetting a mob
Subās access to Shadow Dance allows you to use these abilities in the middle of combat. Sub also hits harder then the other specs from stealth meaning you can very quickly end fights against all but the most hardy mobs.
DS Sin - just garrote+rupture and watch them die
ambush garrote rupture.
Not opening with ambush defeats the purpose of using deathstalker you may as well just go fatebound
Coup De Grace kneecaps you extremely hard in that 1) you have no control over it, 2) it rarely lines up with Summarily Dispatched stacks, and 3) itās an animation lock with no other purpose than to drive you insane.
Just Killing Spree was enough to make me say no thank you. Wanted the hour long Tricks though. ._.
Killing Spree is actually a big part of making Trickster work for Outlaw; outside of A Thousand Cuts or (arguably worse) Flickerstrike choice node, Killing Spree is the only guaranteed way of getting Unseen Blade stacks (2) without incurring the 20 second internal CD.
If I had the energy/haste, you could make something out of Trickster, but as it stands you simply run out of gas too fast.
I would argue assassination is better because it has earlier access to its energy-related talents.
Any spec works to level right now. Blizzard went a bit overboard buffing all of the classās base damage for all 3 specs and put very little power in the actual hero trees, unlike most other specs. Just play what you prefer. If you have been playing since classic you already know what it is.
