Solo Progression Makes Sense

I don’t fully understand what you are suggesting here, but my job these days is the game, and one of the main things I love doing is helping players get ahead of their worries and excel where they used to fail.

If you have any questions about something, I would be happy to help, but based on your reply I have a feeling you’re cynicism would stand in the way of much of the needed progression.

Still, happy to help.

Honestly, you are very committed to this being an impossible task. It really isn’t.

Its not impossible, its just not going to happen, because to do it properly it would take a ton of resources away from other content, which is already struggling this expansion.

to yourself.

you keep saying “progression” but you only seem to be talking about gear

I don’t know if you’re talking to me or someone else, but, if me, then no, I’m not ‘only’ talking about gear.

I’ll give the basic explanation one more time since it’s a 750 post thread and I can’t blame you for not having seen it…

I want content progression. I want content that I can do to challenge myself in a solo or small group environment that allows me to gradually overcome greater challenges over time. The same basic path as every other type of mmo progression follows. So I want to do content, complete it, and then unlock more difficult content that allows me to push further.

The reason why loot comes into that is pretty simple: if content continually gets harder but there’s no gear reward, then you just eventually - no matter how skilled you are - hit a wall where it is impossible to complete further. Gear has to be a part of the overall system I envision, because otherwise there’s no actual progression.

And the reason why I feel like the gear has to be comparable to other game modes… is because I don’t want the solo content to be trivialized for people like me who participate in multiple game modes. I want it to be relevant for everyone who wishes for it to be relevant for them.

Since you took the time to open up I figured I should give you some credit and take the time to think about what you said and try to be thoughtful in response. I gave you the benefit of the doubt and tried to be sincere and open with you.

And in response to my thoughtfulness and the care I took in addressing your situation, what did you do? You ignored 75% of my post, quoted one part out of context… and insulted me. I don’t know what else to say in response to you, so I think I’ll just leave it at this and move on with life.

Best wishes, but you might as well not ever reply to me again because I’m never going to read another post you make.

You’re just trying to cater the game to your play style. The fact that you want solo progression, but then mention one or two friends… and then say that 5 is too many…

It shows what you really want. You’re no different than people who want to do 10-man Mythic, groups of 6 for dungeons, etc.

That’s not this game.

no I don’t think I will

Thank you Saliashra - someone finally gets me! Back in 2006 the ONE spectacular thing that drove me away from all other MMO’s and into WOW was that they offered solo progression that other games did not, and wow made me feel included. I cancelled 3 other game accounts once I experienced wow and never looked back. Unfortunately, the game has made me feel less and less included (wanted) in the past six years, which has pushed me to become a serial quitter (my account ends today, again). If I had any hope that the current game managers would give a dang about solo players then I might stick around but they have proven time and time again that they don’t want me.

Same can be said for forcing solo players to do content they don’t like, same for forcing PVP to PVE its not enjoyable for anyone. But so far, the solo player has always been forced to do group content to even see the entire lore/story unfold.

The suggestions were that these buffs/items only affect solo content, so questing or world zones, in essence it is no different than what is being currently done in Torghast, it is exactly the same only for world content, it is in no way mandatory less mandatory than dungeons or raids or pvp are currently.

Not bull, right now the majority of players are solo for the most part, as a business, it would make sense for Blizzard to favor the solo player, but instead they cling to developing the game in alignment with group players despite the numbers. Additionally, in a perfect world everyone’s sub would be totally equal, as in a weighted average, but in the real world money should at least dictate development, in this case it flies in the face of that logic.
